Week 8, Term 1 2022
25/3/22 - He Pānui Wiki Waru, Whānga Tuatahi
Kia Ora Koutou (Hi Everyone)
We have made it through another eerily strange week at school. The latest absence update is 71 absent and 88 present. Of the 71 absent, we have 31 active COVID cases. Other absences are due to HHC requirements and other reasons.
Many of the current cases will be finishing their isolation periods over the weekend and will be returning to school. We continue to be grateful to you all for monitoring for symptoms in yourselves and your children.
As you will all be aware, the government announced some changes to current requirements.
The key changes are as follows:
The removal of vaccination mandates for education workers will take effect from 11.59pm Monday 4 April.
On the same date, removal of the My Vaccine Pass from the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system).
There is no requirement to display QR code posters although if you are coming on site to work or be in classrooms, you will need to sign in using the office Vistab.
Red
There is no change to masks in education settings from the existing Red setting. Medical-grade masks remain a requirement for staff working indoors with children and young people in Years 4-13.
For all New Zealanders, including school settings, masks will not be required outdoors.
Capacity limits will be removed for outdoor events and activities.
Indoor capacity limits for extra-curricular activities increase to 200 people, or a maximum capacity based on the maximum number of people who could occupy the space if each person was one metre apart (whichever is lower).
Values Focus This Week
We are enjoying seeing how engaged and active students are with their learning - our focus is on science and writing and we have been seeing some wonderful examples of student progress. Please keep your eyes peeled for science equipment that we could make up science kits with - glass beakers, test tubes etc. especially if you have contacts at secondary schools.
Have a lovely weekend everyone,
Ngā manaakitanga,
Belinda Bunny

Spring Bulbs
Thanks to everyone who ordered spring bulbs. We made a profit of $670. This money is being put towards new basketball backboards and hoops - our current ones have seen better days. We will share some pictures once they are here and installed. The kids are going to be so excited.
