A Message from the Principal
February 7, 2022
Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,
I am sorry that our Catholic Schools Week was cut short due to inclement weather, but I hope that you had the perfect combination of distance learning and fun snow play last Thursday and Friday!
Last Wednesday night at the Home and School Association meeting I spoke about the safety plans that we have in place at HFCS. I want to share that information with those of you who were unable to attend the meeting as the safety of our students is our number one priority.
HFCS has a dedicated Crisis & Emergency Team who update our safety manual each year. Every classroom has a red binder which contains all our safety policies and protocols, and all our teachers review this information every year. Our team members are:
⦁ Ann Walters
⦁ Lisa Bothwell, RN
⦁ Mirna Vasquez
⦁ Jan Barker
⦁ Tracy Head
⦁ Monica Molina, HFCC Parish Administrator
⦁ Detective Maria Orand, parent
The faculty/staff members are CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified:
⦁ Lisa Bothwell
⦁ Jan Barker
⦁ Jodi Price
⦁ Mia Cook
⦁ Tracy Head
⦁ Daphne Gomez
HFCS is a designated Project ADAM Heart Safe School, which means that all our faculty and staff are hands-only CPR certified and have been trained how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). We have two AEDs in our school building, there are also two more AEDs in on the parish side of the campus.
HFCS requires these safety drills every year:
⦁ FIRE DRILL: 1x a month
⦁ TORNADO DRILL: 2x per year
⦁ LOCKDOWN DRILL: 1x per year
⦁ AED Drill: 1x per year (Project ADAM)
We follow Standard Response Protocol (SRP) in emergency situations as shown in this infographic:
The Standard Response Poster, as well as fire evacuation routes and tornado shelter location maps are displayed in all classrooms and offices.
Here are brief descriptions of when SRP would be implemented. “HOLD” would be used if there is a disturbance or medical emergency in the building and that area needs to be cleared so the crisis team are able handle the situation efficiently. “SECURE” would be used if there is a disturbance in the neighborhood or outside the building, no newly arriving people or visitors are allowed into the building during this time. LOCKDOWN would be used if there is an intruder in the building or a threat of an intruder. EVACUATE would be used if there is a fire or gas leak in the building. SHELTER would be used in the event of a tornado.
I hope this safety information was helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Blessings,
Ann Walters

Dads' Club
Holy Family Dads and Friends-
I hope everyone is safe and warm from the the taste of winder last week. I wanted to share a little bit of Dads’ Club news with you:
This year’s Dads’ Club Golf Classic is officially set for Friday, May 13 (1PM shotgun start) at Squaw Creek Golf Course. It will be our 15th annual tournament and we look forward to another successful day of fun on the course and raising money for the school. Please mark your calendars and plan to golf or volunteer that day if you are able to.
The next Dads’ Club meeting is this Wednesday, February 9 at 6:00PM at Heim Barbecue on the River (5333 White Settlement Rd). If the weather is nice we’ll sit outside. If not, I’ll send an update. The main business for this meeting is launching the planning and promotional efforts for the golf tournament. There are lots of ways to help make it a great day for our school — bringing a foursome to play, sponsoring a hole, volunteering on the event day, helping us plan, etc — so please consider what you are able to do to help out. Please RSVP to the meeting and let us know how you may be able to help with the tournament here: dMsy0UC64DjOJ7WP1

Back at the Ponderosa - HFCS style, the 5th graders made blankets for the homeless as a service project. All the students looked great in their western accessories, including their decorated bandanas!
All week long, students Dropped Everything and Danced and songs filled the school! Check out the pictures!
