Zones of Regulation
Previously, students learned how to identify their feelings into zones
RED
YELLOW
BLUE
GREEN
Last week students were able to identify what puts them in each zone, what they look like when they are in that zone, and how others around them feel when they are in each zone.
Students are finding ways to help them cope with being in each zone.
They identified skills that would help them when they are feeling down or upset, when they are getting too wiggly, or when they are entering the red zone and getting mad.
Some of these are great ideas to talk with your children about using to help them cope with feelings and emotions:
- Thinking putty
- Slime
- Journaling
- Reading
- Washing hands
- Going for a walk
- Coloring
- Throwing a ball
- Counting to 10
- Deep breathing
There are so many more great ideas, ask your child what helps them calm down.

Believe you can, and you will
Patience
We use patience every day and it is a very important skill to practice and use.
What can you do while you are waiting?
- Read a book
-Talk to a neighbor
-Draw or color
- Play with another friend
- Take a walk
- Look at the scenery
Teaching kids positive things to do while they are waiting, help to build their patience bubble and helps them to be more successful at being patient.
