New Year, New Books

  • New Books: The left-hand column of the Library Media Center website features a carousel of some of the newest additions to the library collection. Scroll the carousel or check the library catalog to browse our newest titles.

  • Need a Book Recommendation? The end of the year brings an abundance of "Best Books of the Year" lists. Check out these Young Adult books, each of which was featured on a Best Books of the Year list. All of the books on this list are available through the Minuteman Library Media Center and/or Sora, our e-book app.

Tour the Library Media Center Website

The Minuteman High School Library Media Center website continues to grow. Take this video tour of the library website for reminders of what we have to offer. The library is open during school hours, but many of our resources are available 24/7.

Noodle Tools Single Sign On

Great news! Students and faculty will now log-in to Noodle Tools, our subscription citation tool and research management system, using their Minuteman Microsoft/Office 365 credentials. Formerly, students would have to remember or access a separate Noodle Tools username and password.

"Following a standard format for citation" is an literacy and research skill that spans subjects and grade levels. (Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 2017). Below are some Noodle Tools tutorials to share and use with students. Alternatively, reach out and I'd be glad to schedule time to work with your students:

Senior Project

In support of the Senior Project process, the library media specialist has been meeting regularly with seniors and their CTE instructors. Held during CTE remote weeks, these individual shop sessions scaffold and support the Senior Project research process. Go to the Senior Project page of the library website to learn more about the Senior Project and browse resources applicable to any research and inquiry project.

CTE Independent Reading

During 9th, 10th, and 11th grade CTE remote weeks, the library media specialist has been working with students in one-hour CTE-Related Independent Reading sessions. Aligned with the Minuteman goal to increase integration of reading skills across all areas, students select and complete CTE-related reading based on personal interest or importance in their field, then track what they read in an independent reading journal. Learn more about these sessions and browse padlets of CTE related reading resources at the library website. Hearty thanks to the many instructors and students who have helped contribute to the padlets of CTE reading resources; they remain a work in progress.
