The sale of these shirts will end on April 22nd at NOON, so purchase a shirt for your child before you run out of time!

We encourage your child to wear their grade level shirt at all the upcoming end of the year events: field day, end of the year party, and the last day of school.

Thursday afternoon, as part of their current study of weather, our 1st grade students had a virtual visit with Meteorologist Ryan Beesley from FOX 5 Atlanta! Mr. Beesley showed students behind the scenes at the FOX 5 studios and answered student questions about what causes weather. He said that the students had some impressive questions! Thank you Mrs. Dietz for setting up this opportunity for our students.

We were lucky to have beautiful weather as our students and families enjoyed our grade level Spring Family Picnics around campus. Thank you to all the families that were able to join us.

Evan Luo, a 1st grade student, was recognized Thursday night at the Georgia PTA Reflections' virtual ceremony. He received an Honorable Mention for his artwork in the PTA Reflections Visual Art Competition.

Evan was Brookwood Elementary's only student recognized at the state level. Brookwood Elementary is so proud of you!

Kindergarten Registration began online on April 11, 2022. You can find all the information you to need to help you get ready at the New to Brookwood page of the Brookwood Elementary website.

We are excited to welcome our future Colts to Brookwood Elementary School! Please join us for Kick Off to Kindergarten on Tuesday, May 3rd from 4:30 - 7:30 pm.

During our Kick Off to Kindergarten, we will have staff members available to help with online registration, receive required documents, and complete initial assessments with your future kindergartener. On that night you will also be able to get information from the clinic and transportation.

The Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessment will be administered to all students in 3rd - 5th grade from April 21 - May 13, 2022. Third and fourth grade will test over five days in the subject areas of Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Fifth grade will test in the subjects of Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science over six days. The Girl Scouts are collecting new and gently used dog toys for the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. You can send in toys now through April 22nd. Toys can be placed in the bins at the front of the school.

Each year, we expose our students to a variety of careers in order to jumpstart their thinking about the future. This year we are excited to announce that we are welcoming presenters back into our building. Our College and Career Day will be May 13 (3-5) & May 17 (K-2), 2022.

Did you know that Brookwood ES has a Health Response Team (HRT) which manages and communicates COVID related information with staff, students and parents? The HRT gathers information, conducts contact investigations and communicates as needed. In the next few months, it is important that you continue to alert the school if your child develops symptoms or tests positive for the virus.

Common symptoms include:

Fever (100.4 or higher), Cough, Shortness of breath, muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, congestion/runny nose, nausea/vomiting, sore throat, fatigue

Cancer has touched many of the staff of Brookwood Elementary School in some way. To help fight back, Brookwood Elementary has committed to raise funds and participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event. The Brookwood Elementary Relay for Life team has set the goal to raise $10,000 for Relay for Life this year! You can help us meet our goal in a few ways:

• Join our Team - Go to the Relay for Life website and become a member of our team.
• Make a Donation - We are accepting donations via our team website.

Information has come home with your 5th grade student from the Brookwood cluster middle schools. You can find information about important dates and events below and on the Rising 6th Grade page on the Brookwood Elementary website.

Rising 6th Graders are invited to register for Bronco Boot Camp to get an early peek of a day-in-the-life at Crews Middle School. Students will get opportunities to tour the building, preview 6th curriculum, practice class changes, and go on a scavenger hunt. Parents will also be invited to a virtual Q &A on the last day of camp.

Registration for Bronco Boot Camp is open now - May 16th on MyPaymentsPlus.

PTA will be meeting on Monday, April 18th at 7:00 pm via Zoom. The meeting link will be posted to the Brookwood Elementary PTA website prior to the meeting.

Come dressed in your Sunday best and have a special date night with your son or grandson. We welcome mothers, grandmothers, and any special women in your son's life! Seats are limited, so reservations are required for attendance. Four dates and times are available:

All tickets purchased will include admission, a choice of a pasta dinner that you choose during the event, garlic knots, drinks, dessert, take & Bake kit for adult/son combo ticket purchased, craft, photo booth, and more…

Gwinnett County Public Schools' ISC Relay for Life Team will be hosting the Cars for a Cause Car Show on April 23, 2022 at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. All proceeds benefit the Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

• Earlybird Registration – $20 – Online registration available now through Saturday, April 16th.
• Registration Day of Event – $25 – Registration will be available the day of the event starting at 9:00am.
