Message from Dr. Ramirez
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Remember, students have Monday and Tuesday off. Teachers return on Monday and Tuesday to prepare for the next quarter.
Students, I am very proud of all of you for taking your education seriously and for doing your best! I observed many classes last week and saw every student on task and engaged. I also saw dedicated and focused teaching and learning from our teaches and staff. We are in a good academic rhythm.
We kicked off our Homecoming activities on Thursday and we end with our first-ever Homecoming Monster Mash celebration on our Senior Quad on Saturday. As in our sports events, all safety guidelines will be followed.
I want to thank all of you who were able to make our outdoor fall concert and athletic events. Our students and staff appreciate the support. Speaking of support, please come out and cheer on our volleyball team as they continue their quest for state championship. As the number 1 ranked team in the state, we play at home for all games. Our team won on Saturday and continue the next round on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 pm.
Don't forget, picture retakes or makeup day will be on Wednesday! Dress your best.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ramirez

- Dedicated
- Spirited

We are looking for Math Tutors: We are looking for adults who can tutor students during the school day, during our regular class periods. Tutors can work one class period or more, one day a week, or more. Tutors will be issued contracts and will not be OCS employees. For more details, email Dr. Ramirez at carlos.ramirez@orange.k12.nc.us.
Food Supply Shortages: Dear OCS families, As we continue to address the many ways the pandemic is affecting our communities and our everyday lives, we want you to be well informed that some key items needed for our school nutrition program are in short supply. We are not the only district experiencing this. Schools across the country are facing supply chain shortages caused by limited supplies, delayed shipments, and not enough truck drivers in the country.
Our Child Nutrition program is currently experiencing shortages of plastic cutlery, trays/serving containers, and some staple food items (such as rice, pizza products, and chicken). We want you to know that because of this, the menus for breakfast, lunch, and after school snacks may be subject to change without notice. Due to strict food safety regulations, our Child Nutrition program is unable to accept food donations.
Above all else, we want you to be assured that all students will continue to be offered nutritious and well-balanced meals. We will ensure food item substitutes meet the nutritional and calorie standards, per state and federal regulations.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact our Director of Child Nutrition, Sara Pitts, at sara.pitts@orange.k12.nc.us or (919) 732-8126.
Thank you for your support and patience. Please know that our staff is in constant contact with state consultants about the food/supply shortage issues.
Makeup/Retake Pictures on Wednesday: Here (access via OCS student account) is the schedule for next Wednesday's makeup/retake yearbook pictures. All pictures are taken in the media center. The schedule is divided by grade levels and by type of picture (retake or makeup) so make sure you read the entire schedule to find your name. There will be no other makeup day for pictures.
If you failed to sign up, you may check with Ms. Ball in the media center that morning to see what time you may be able to come. It will depend on the photographer schedule.
Student ID Cards Ready: If you had your picture taken on the Sept. student picture day, your student ID cards are now available to be picked up in the media center. Please stop by the media center before school, between classes, or during flex time this week or next week to get yours. Be sure you know your Ridge Time teacher's name in order for us to find your card.
Student ID cards can be used to sign in and out of the library, to check out books, and possibly to go through the lunch line (more on this to come). In addition, you can often get student discounts at stores and movie theaters when you show your ID.
Photographer needed: Cedar Ridge Athletic Boosters is looking for a volunteer photographer. This is someone who can be on campus to capture a few pictures of in-season workouts/practices each week and then photograph home games of all in-season sports. We want to be inclusive to all in-season sports and athletes. This would be a great opportunity for a student or a parent who is currently active or wants to be more active on campus. If interested, please email Mrs. Bradsher at cridgeathletics@gmail.com
