ISTE Student Standard 2: Communication and Collaboration - Global Connections
This week fifth graders at Bluff Park Elementary joined fifty other elementary schools from across the United States in a video conference with author Stephan Pastis. Be sure to check out Skype an Author Network for a list of authors available to Skype with your class.
Mrs. Evans at Bluff Park Elementary whisks her students away on virtual field trips frequently through Microsoft in Education. You will be amazed at the endless possibilities.
Mystery Skpe: Where in the world are they? Is another great opportunity to connect. Students ask questions to discover the location of their partnering classroom. What a great way to discover the United States and beyond.
Global Math Task Twitter Challenge and Mystery Number Skype are two other great opportunities to connect in the math world. Use Twitter or Microsoft Education to make those connections and start problem solving!
Be sure to check out two great upcoming opportunities:
Same Day in March - Share temperature data with a classroom across the country.
Squiggles of Awesome - Share artwork with a partnering classroom!
The Must Have Extension
Ever wish you had two monitors, but only have a laptop? Your solution is here! All you have to do is go to the Chrome Web Store and search for the Tab Resize Extension. This is a must have! This will make you and your students much happier when researching... ISTE Student Standard 4.
