Fun Run

Join us this Friday for the Annual Hough Street Fun Run right after school from
2:45 pm - 3:30 pm. Meet on the big playground with a full water bottle, the heart of a lion and the legs of a cheetah.

All students K-5 are welcome. Volunteers needed for help with the event. Please text (312.504.4224) or email (christie.shoemacher@gmail.com) if you're interested.

Scarecrow Stuffing

As you know, crows continue to menace the Barrington community. Old Man Rickett's soy bean crop has never been the same after the Great Forage of 2012. It's time to strike back. Hough's annual scarecrow making date has been set for Friday, October, 4th at 2:40 p.m. This time, it's personal.

Join us on the small playground to make scarecrows we will strategically position around the perimeter of the school. A parent or caregiver must stay to both supervise. We are taking every precaution in the event of crow spys. Please wear hats, sunglasses and fake facial hair. These nefarious birds never forget a face.

Snacks will be provided. Rain date is set for Friday, October, 11th.

Captain's Ball* on October 11th

All aboard as we set sail for an evening of dancing, games, a midnight sweets buffet and a boat load of fun! Any Hough student is welcome to attend with the special Captain in their life.

Tickets are $25 per couple (no cost for additional Hough students). Nautical wear encouraged, but not required. (Please, no dressing up as Popeye the Misogynist Sailor.)

To buy tickets visit: https://barrington220.revtrak.net/pto/pto-hes/hes-pto-events/#/v/HES-PTO-Hough-Sails-Away-Captains-Ball-101119

*This event is formerly known as the Daddy-Daughter Dance. While this note does somewhat defeat the purpose of the dance's new brand identity, we hope it does not discourage your attendance.

Service Club Open for 3rd - 5th Grade Students

To paraphrase John F. Kennedy, "I have no idea why Marilyn Monroe is at my birthday party."

Wait. Wrong reference.

"Ask not what Hough can do for you. Ask what you can do for Hough. Encourage your 3rd - 5th graders to join the Service Club." (Note: Hough was founded in 1855, so there is a possibility that JFK once said this to an aide.)

The Helping Hawks meet the first Thursday of the month to plan and do fun service activities! We will meet during the entire lunch period (no lunch recess) in Mrs. Goitein’s room. The first meeting will be on Thursday, Oct 3rd.

To join, please complete the online form by Monday, Sept 30th:

Hough Eats Out on October 22nd

Dads, aren't you tired of working all day, then coming home to make dinner? Why not take a break and help raise money for Hough!

Our first Hough Eats Out will be October 22 at Frantonio's! Tell your server you are with Hough and a portion of your bill will be donated back to our school.

Tell your server you want a Bloody Mary, a steak sandwich and a steak sandwich and bill it to the Underhills and we don't get a cent. Not one cent. So don't do that, funny guy.
