Principal's Message...
I hope everyone enjoyed our unexpected long weekend, including our extra hour of sleep- thanks to daylight saving time! According to NBC 10's forcaster, Kelly Bates, our new sunset time will be 4:39pm and we may have a chance of snow showers on Thursday this week! Wait, what? Didn't we just meet for Popsicles with The Principal?
It is said that "time flies when you are having fun," but it is also important to be careful to not "let time pass us by!" Scientists say that modern everyday interactions with technology have speeded up our ability to process information and this changes the way we perceive time. This had me thinking about our children. Our children watch us interact with this technology all day, everyday and they interact with it, as well. Our homes and cars utilize "smart" technologies and from text messaging to Netflix, to self-checkouts at the grocery store, I can't help but wonder how these interactions with technology, affect them?
As parents and educators, how do we guide our children through an ever-changing world, prepare them for a future that is uncertain and for jobs that don't exist? How do we help them process a world of information that is instantly available to them now, while still making time for them to jump in a pile of leaves?
Schools today must be learning organizations. They must become places where we come together to learn how to learn in our ever-changing world. We know our classrooms of today should not look like our classrooms of yesterday, but do we know what they need to look like to prepare our students for their future?
We may not have the answers, but the time to ask the questions and talk about change is now because before we know it, we will all be back on the playground, having popsicles with the principal, once again.
Wishing everyone a great week!
Best always,
~Mrs. Komocar

Peace Dale's Safety Vestibule & Parking Lot Updates
In order to provide the construction workers a more optimal space to work, we will be utilizing the front side door for all traffic coming in and out of the building after 3:30pm, and on weekends/holidays. Please note that anyone needing access to the building using the front doors will be able to do so, if needed.
The outside work should be completed by the end of November and the whole project is scheduled to be completed by the first of the year.
Our Parking Lot Project is still anticipated to begin in Summer of 2020.
We will continue to update the community, as necessary. As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns: kkomocar@sksd-ri.net or 401-360-1604.
