Indian Crest Middle School
October 1, 2021
October is Bullying Prevention Month. During the month of October, each Monday Advisory lesson will focus on bullying prevention. Students will also discuss positive pillars of character that help combat bullying. At Indian Crest, we recite a Bystander Pledge every morning committing to standing up for those who may be bullied.
Crest Community Challenge
At Indian Crest, we are encouraging students to actively participate in the community in which they live. Our emphasis is on developing an awareness of the needs of others in the community, a sense of responsibility to address these concerns, and help to develop the skills needed to make an effective contribution to society. Therefore, at Indian Crest Middle School we believe that it is important to venture beyond the classroom and make a positive contribution to our community.
We have began hosting C3 since 2015. We have had to make some adjustments due to restrictions this year. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a walk-a-thon and disc golf tournament during PE classes. Each Team will also be completing a Community Service Project throughout the course of the week. Students are asked to donate $1 for the walk-a-thon.
MAP stands for Measure of Academic Progress. It is a test on the computer which helps us improve learning for all students. The difficulty level changes based on how students answer the questions. Over the next three weeks, students will take 3 tests: reading, math and language. ELA and Math teachers will conference with students on their results and help set goals for winter.
We have reviewed the dress code with students during team assemblies late September. The entire dress code can be found in the Middle School Handbook posted on our school website. Please take a minute to review with your child as well.
