Husky Highlight
February 25, 2022
Note from Ms. Moulton
Good Morning, Hosmer Families,
Hooray, hooray! We are officially in our new, amazing school! An enormous thank you to our faculty and staff - including our amazing custodians - for the incredible amount of work they have put into the move. As I walked through the hallways this week, teachers were organizing and decorating classrooms. Classrooms are warm and welcoming and already represent the students and teachers in each space. I am so excited to welcome our students on Monday. Once they are here, the building will really come to life!
Prior to the break, students were able to briefly visit the building a couple of times - once to learn lunchroom procedures and another time to practice entering the building and getting to their classrooms. On Monday, teachers will meet students outside in the same way that they did at the start of the year, Please consult the maps below to familiarize yourself with where each grade will enter and dismiss. For the first two weeks in the building, we will have additional staff stationed at all entryways to assist students as they learn to navigate the space.
Please note that students must wear sneakers on gym day. They cannot wear boots or other shoes. Please consult your child's classroom teacher if you are not sure of gym days. If in doubt, please send them to school with sneakers in their bag.
It is also important to note that our snack program will only continue for the next two weeks. After that, we will shift to providing universal breakfast before school.
As always, I thank you for your continued support of our wonderful school.
With a grateful heart,
Erin Moulton, Principal
Thank you, PTO, for the pizza lunch!
Lots of unpacking.
Lots and lots of unpacking!
Entering School in the Morning
- Kindergarten and 1st Grade enter through the courtyard.
- 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade will enter through the door on Concord Rd closest to the old Hosmer.
- 4th and 5th Grade will enter through the door on Concord Rd closest to Brigham House.
- Bus students will enter through the courtyard doors.
Any student who arrives after 8:15 is considered tardy and must enter through the main entrance at the Purple Door.
Drop & Go Reminders
- Use School Street to Boylston St for the most direct route into the drop-and-go area.
- Pull up on the school side until you reach the end of the building near Brigham House.
- Children should not be let out of the car unless you are in the drop-and-go zone.
- Staff will open cars doors and assist children in getting out of the vehicle.
- Please do not park or get out of the vehicle.
Do not let children out of the car if you are in any other location as the streets surrounding are active traffic zones and very dangerous.
You MUST Wear Sneakers for Gym Class!
In order to play in the gym, students must wear sneakers. If your child is not wearing sneakers, they may be given an alternate assignment.
Please consult your classroom newsletters to see which days your child(ren) have gym class and make sure they wear or bring sneakers on those days. Mrs. Barlett and Mrs. Fitzgerald have been talking with students about this throughout the week as well.
Snack is becoming Breakfast
Next week is the last week children will be able to have school-provided snacks. Families will need to provide a snack from home for snack time.
Free School Breakfast will be provided beginning Monday, March 7th. Breakfast will be available from 7:45 - 8:05 daily.
We will provide more information about the menu and how children enter and sign in to the building to access breakfast in an upcoming Husky Highlight.
