MATHEWS e-News
Friday, December 10
So much to see and do!
A quick reminder so you have time to plan: NEXT FRIDAY is a half-day of school. Early Release is at noon. ENJOY the start of Winter Break!
Thank you for continuing to spread the word about our Mathews Mavericks Facebook page. We invite all our families and extended families to click the 'like' button so you can see some of what is going on at Mathews. This is our official page for our school and we want to thank Kristin Woodard for heading this up for our campus!
BOOK FAIR was an amazing success in so many ways. It lifted spirits for students and staff and I think our very hard working volunteers who helped set it up and help students and parents with their sales.
Grade 5 Parents: Please see below if your child is a transfer student to Mathews. If you want to continue to Schim you will need to complete a transfer request. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. It will go to waitlist quickly. Be sure to read the dates and times with the information from the district below. (JANUARY 4 before students return from Winter Break!)
Spirit Night continues through this weekend with extended hours at Paint 'N' Party. We hope you will check it out as well.
In the spirit of giving we have our Water Bottle Drive, Sock Drive and our Collection of Eyeglasses continue into next week.
- Our sock drive wraps up on Tuesday, December 14 so our PALS can pick up our donations before they go on break.
- Our own Mathews Water Bottle Drive continues through the end of next week.
- Nurse Christina is collecting eyeglasses to donate to the Lions Club. The Lions Club provide free vision test and glasses to student throughout PISD. In appreciation, our PISD nurses are collecting glassware to donate to provide glasses around the world.
Mr. Steele is also sharing information for 'Lunch at Mathews'.
We also have information about our upcoming History Fair.
We also have shared PISD's new website for Exploring Pathways to College and Careers.
Check it out and let me know if you have any questions.
Please know we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday! Our last week together for 2021...Let's make it AMAZING!

LUNCH at MATHEWS
From Mr. Steele:
Mathews Families,
Update: Our Parent Sign-Up for Lunch with your child that began December 1 is going great!
With space and safety in mind, we will continue to utilize the online tool SignUpGenius (Please excuse any ads posted on the site, they are not endorsed by PISD or Mathews) so that two families can sign up each day per grade level.
Please note, that Kindergarten and First grade eat together each day, so we only be able to accommodate three guest families to sign up at that time.
We are going to ask that families only sign up for one day each month to start.
That said, if there are open spots during the current week, and there is an opening available, please feel free to sign up for more than one day that month.
