Suicide In the Fox Cities
- Suicide is listed as the second-leading cause of death for young people ages 15-24 and the third-leading cause for ages 25-44. The greatest number of suicide deaths was among 35 – 54-year-old males.
- State figures show there were 737 suicides in Wisconsin in 2011. In Wisconsin five times as many people die from suicides as from homicides. In almost half of all completed suicides a firearm was used.
- Veterans account for 20% of all completed suicides. For people age 55 and older, veterans account for almost half of completed suicides.
- Suicide is 2 to 3 times higher for LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) youth.

Talk To Someone
Letting your thoughts and feelings out to someone who understands is one of the best ways to deal with depression.
Exercise
Exercising helps relieve stress and also gets your mind off of your thoughts.
