What was the Orphan Train Experience?
The Orphan Train Movement was a program that transported orphaned children from Eastern cities of the United States into foster homes located manly in rural areas of the Midwest. From 1854 to 1929 about 300,000 abandoned, and homeless orphans were placed throughout the United States and Canada during the Orphan Train Movement.
