Bushy Park PTA Email
Leading with Kindness | March 30, 2020
Today
I hope this email finds you well. Today, is Monday. It's still March. I think it's still 2020.
I wanted to say thank you to all who've already donated to the Bushy Park Food Need Fund and the Community Action Council of Howard County. To date, we have collected a total of $745 ($645 from families and $100 from People Who Need People (PWNP)) and dispersed $200.
If your family is in need of food, please email me confidentially at bpesptapres@gmail.com. We are in this together and are supporting our community.
Please take a moment to read the email and take appropriate action.

Grade-Level Meet-ups
Mondays and Thursdays
PLEASE NOTE:
- NOT recorded.
- NO instruction, just a fun Bushy Park specific activity.
- ALL FAMILIES: I'm manually allowing entrance for each participant. I allow the first meeting participant at 5 minutes before the hour and stop allowing entry at 15 minutes after the hour. If the username is suspect, I don't accept it and they are placed in the waiting room. If I don't recognize an adult (who is usually helping a younger friend with setup), I monitor them until I can see them transition to the children. Type chatting is disabled for all meet-ups. Any inappropriate language will end the meet-up immediately for everyone -- no hesitation.
- 5th Grade Families: From the first meet-up, it seems like all of the 5th graders that are in the meet-up are exchanging Roblox usernames while playing it during the meet-up. Please be aware of this. If there is interest in creating a password protected list of Roblox usernames, I'm happy to create one and provide a link. Let me know.

Personal Notes:
- For those of you who don't know, my education is in the fine arts and my profession is graphic design. As a high schooler in Montgomery County, I attended a visual arts magnet program -- "GO TITANS!". I know, first hand, how transformative and therapeutic art can be. Today, we have several young artists who are trying to navigate this uncertain time. Putting those creative minds may help. Please find details at: https://www.bushyparkpta.org/create2020. This is open to ALL HCPSS students.
- We got a puppy on Saturday. Here's a pic of "Gus," a 4 month old goldendoodle.
- Last week, I enrolled our boys (Sebastian, 14, 8th Grade & Julian, 10, 4th Grade) in Khan Academy (https://www.khanacademy.org) and setup accounts for Rosetta Stone (https://www.rosettastone.com). We've mandated one hour of each on school days.
- To help with my anxiety, I've been using a free resource from Calm at: https://www.calm.com/blog/take-a-deep-breath. It's helped me and I hope it helps you too.
