Benefits of Full Day Kindergarten

Full Day Kindergarten

Children who attend full-day kindergarten are more successful at later levels, according to the National All Day Kindergarten Network. Success indicators include fewer placements in special education, higher standardized test scores, and fewer retentions. Children from low socioeconomic life circumstances also experience increased academic performance and social benefits. Teachers of full day kindergarten are less rushed to complete the curriculum and have more time to develop stronger relationships with the children and their families than their half-day counterparts. Especially given the demands of the new Common Core State Standards in math and English language arts for kindergarten, a full day program is much more likely to bring students to mastery of the new standards.

Swartz Creek Schools are proud to offer a full day kindergarten program.
