December Newsletter
Notes From the Principal
Tis the season,
At Rockfield we keep the learning going and have a lot of fun being festive during this holiday season. Below you'll read about the various activities coming up this month that range from dress up days to caroling. We have updated our calendar on our website and in the Germantown School District App with all of these festive events. Additionally our PTA put together some exciting activities for our students and families this month. Make sure to take a look in this newsletter and check in on Facebook.
This month’s focus is Empathy. One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships.
Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Winter weather officially arrived. Students have been very responsible with bringing their snow gear to and from school already! Here are just a few reminders about our winter weather plans:
- We go outside for recess as long at the temperature is above 0 degrees.
- Students must have snow pants and winter boots in order to play in the snow.
- Snow creations made are for all to share, play in and build.
Have a warm and wonderful holiday!
Fondly,
Dana Croatt

IMPORTANT BUS INFORMATION - RITEWAY
Please be advised of the following changes/updates from Riteway Bus Company.
- ADDING/REMOVING A STUDENT TO A ROUTE:
- If a family wants their student to begin or stop taking the bus they must notify Riteway (262)677-3282.
- STUDENT DROP OFF CHANGE:
- If a family needs to change the drop off location (i.e. student now going to daycare) a special transportation form needs to be completed, returned to the school office, and signed by Dr. Croatt. The signed form will be emailed to Riteway and Riteway will confirm and/or deny the request.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON SAME BUS BUT GETTING OFF AT A DIFFERENT STOP:
- Students going home on the same bus but getting off at a different stop need a note signed by their parent/guardian so the school and the driver are aware of the change.
- STUDENT GOING HOME ON A DIFFERENT BUS:
- This is ONLY allowed in the event of a family emergency and will ONLY be on an as needed basis. A note/email/phone call should be sent by the parent regarding the emergency so that the school and Riteway are aware of the situation and can convey what route and classmate the student will go home with for that evening.
paws4vets
We had a wonderful opportunity to support a local vet and his service animal. Money was collected before school, from Nov 8-15, towards paws4vets. We were able to raise. $703.75 for paws4vets. The winning classrooms with the largest donations, were 1st place: Mrs. Tarantino’s 5th Grade class, 2nd place: Mrs. Sapinski's 5th Grade class and 3rd place: Mrs. Brennan's 3rd Grade class. They will receive a special visit from Yeti the service dog and Shane Mahaffy, USN Vet. Notes from the Health Room
Hello Rockfield families!
What an amazing few months we have had at Rockfield so far! It's going to be a fun month at school as the holidays approach and we have many different celebrations throughout the month.
Please remember that with the cold temps and snow we do still go outside daily unless the temps fall below 0 degrees so make sure your children are bundled up and ready to have fun outside! With the falling temps also comes the winter colds, flu and other illnesses. Please keep your child home if they are not feeling well and/or have a temp over 100, diarrhea, an uncontrollable cough, thick mucus/very runny nose or has vomited in the past 24 hours. They may return 24 hours after symptoms have subsided without the use of medication.
Medication that needs to be taken at school must be brought in by the students guardian and the proper form must be filled out by the parent and/or doctor if it is a prescription. This includes cough drops, eye drops and all over the counter medication. https://5il.co/rphd https://5il.co/rphe
I look forward to all the fun we will be having this month at Rockfield!
Happy Holidays,
Heather Traindl

PTA Updates
Sending you all warm wishes as we welcome our winter season. We have a few updates for December for you to check out.
We're putting a "spin" on our traditional restaurant fundraiser this month. Instead of Dine and Donate, we will Skate and Donate this month. Please see the flyer below for details.
Another small change this month will be to our monthly paw sale. We will be offering gifts for the students to purchase to give to loved ones this season. We will have gift bags/wrapping and labels for the students so they can bring home their purchases as a surprise for the ones they've purchased for. We added extra volunteer slots, so please visit our Sign Up if you're able to volunteer.
