Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing | April 18 & 25 @ NHS, 11 am - 5 pm
In partnership with the State of Michigan and MDHHS, Northville Schools will host drive-thru COVID-19 testing opportunities in the Northville High School parking lot (45700 Six Mile Rd, Northville, MI.)
The drive-thru testing event is open to all Northville residents and the public and will be taking place on Sunday, April 18, 2021 and Sunday, April 25, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged at http://honumg.info/NorthvilleHS or by scanning the QR code in the attached flyer with your smart device camera. Register for time slots to help reduce wait times.
During the drive-thru testing event, participants will receive a rapid test and receive results with 15 minutes. Individuals who receive positive rapid test results will be given the opportunity to receive a follow-up PCR test, receiving those results with 24-48 hours.
We encourage the community to take advantage of this free opportunity. Actions taken by our school and local community members to limit the spread of the coronavirus will allow Northville Public Schools to continue with our commitment for a full return in 2021-22.

2021 Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal Informational Meetings
Northville Public Schools has a critical Operating Millage Renewal proposal on the ballot to renew the current operating millage on all non-homestead property for five years, 2022 to 2026. This millage applies only to non-homestead property such as businesses, rental properties, and second homes. This millage renewal will impose no new taxes. This millage generates about $10 million annually for Northville schools, representing 16% of the district's overall operating revenues. Learn more about the Non-Homestead Operating Millage Renewal on the District website, or join district administrators and members of the Board of Education at one of the upcoming informational meetings that will be held via zoom on Thursday, April 15 from 4-5 p.m. and Monday, April 19 from 6-7 p.m.
Election Day is Tuesday, May 4, 2021.

Attention 1st and 2nd Grade Students and Families
Hello! My name is Sahithy Prattipati. I am a ninth grader from Northville High School with a passion for promoting financial education for younger students. Over the past few months, I have been working with other schools and classrooms, engaging students in discussions about how businesses and individuals in our community use money and encouraging the students themselves to be smart about spending and saving. I would like to continue sending a message here at Silver Springs with fellow first and second-grade students. Over the next five weeks, I will cover a variety of other topics giving students a sound introduction to Economics and Personal Finance. As they draw close to the end of the program, each of the students will get a chance to design their own business and learn how to advertise it in their community!
The materials I will cover do follow the Michigan State Standards for social studies for the first-second grade age level, so whatever we will be discussing will fit nicely into what they are probably already or will be learning. That said, the program aims to emphasize the importance of Economics and Personal Finance and to show them how fun and interesting these topics really are!
As I have said before, this will be a five-week program (a total of 5 sessions). Starting Wednesday, April 28, we will be meeting once a week (on Wednesdays) from 4:30 - 5:00pm on Zoom. (The program will go from Wednesday, April 28 to Wednesday, May 26) For those students who are interested, please fill out the quick Google Form linked below by Friday, April 23 and I will send an email to the parents with the specifics on what I will be covering in each of our sessions and a zoom link for our first session on April 28.

7-Habits Take Home Activity for April
This month’s Habit: Habit 5 Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Activity: Eyes, Ears, Heart Activity
Due Date: April 30, 2021
Habit #5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
Great Books for Habit #5-Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
Alejandro’s Gift by Richard E. Albert
The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown
Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
Jamaica’s Find by Juanita Havill

Covid - 19 Updates
CLOSE CONTACT QUARANTINE UPDATE
As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in the number of COVID cases in our community, and across Michigan over the course of the past several weeks. Citing the increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has reinstated a standard 14-day quarantine for close contacts of COVID-19 cases effective immediately.
Parents should continue to monitor their child for symptoms and not send them to school where symptoms are present. Additionally, if your child has had COVID-19 in the past 5 months (evidenced by a positive PCR), quarantine is not required. We began following these new requirements immediately and notified all families where an identified close contact quarantine could be shortened under these new rules.
**REMINDER** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The Wayne County Health Department, as indicated on the COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021), requires that students stay home to quarantine for 7 days from the date they return to the U.S. No earlier than the 7th day of return, a student must have a COVID-10 PCR test and have a negative result before returning to school.
SCREENING FORM UPDATED
Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school. If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please plan on a 10 day quarantine as the 14 day quarantine will only be required in circumstances where symptoms are present or as required by the health dept or your child's medical care provider.
