Week in Review

Reading Workshop: lifecycle of a pumpkin (starts from a seed and grows into an orange pumpkin), brief introduction to comprehension of what you are reading


Writing Workshop: What do writers do when they are done?, "When you're done, you've just begun", writers can add to the picture, label the picture, write more words, reread their piece, start a new piece, getting them used to adding detail to their pictures which will help them add details to their writing


Math: Patterns, making and being able to describe patterns, identifying numbers displayed different ways (dots, dominos etc)


Science: The sense of touch, the sense of taste


Social Studies: Sense of self, we are all different, we all like different things, but are similar in some ways, made a "things I like" book to show differences


Phonics: sentences, capital letter in beginning, period at the end, say and write sentences that make sense, sounding out our words, even if we just get the beginning sound and write that, that is perfect for right now, once we learn more sounds, we will be able to write words


Handwriting: Letter Ss, sky, grass and underground lines for writing


Health: Staying Healthy, germs


Fire-Prevention Week! We have talked about what to do in case there is a fire.

Literacy Tip

While you read with you child at night, ask them to retell the story in order from beginning, middle, and end.

Math Tip

Practice number recognition. This can be done with flashcards or displaying a group of object, and having them find that flashcard that show how many objects are in that set.
