Sugar House Open to the Public
Come for a winter visit to our sugar house! Depending on weather, we’ll be tapping trees, tasting sap, or boiling down sap for maple syrup. This is an informal, drop-in program intended for adults and families with children of all ages. FREE, donations accepted.

Families Cook on the Farm: Maple Syrup!
Enjoy an afternoon of wintry fun and cooking! We’ll visit our sugar house, taste raw sap, see how maple syrup is made, and make delicious maple creations using maple syrup and eggs from our farm!
This class is for families to enjoy together. Please bring at least one adult for every 2 children – all ages welcome. $10 per person. Children ages 3 and under attend for free.

Grow it! Intro to Gardening Workshops
Join Rachel Ziesk, Advanced Master Gardener, for a series of classes that will cover everything you need to be a successful gardener come Spring 2016!
This series is being co-hosted by Common Ground and Neighborhood Housing Services with support from the USDA Risk Management Agency, UCONN, and the CT Dept. of Agriculture.
- February 27: Container Gardening & Seed Starting
- March 12: Edible Landscaping & Edible/Invasive Weeds
- March 26: Pests, Disease & Organic Controls
$20-$30 per class, sliding scale; $100 to register for the full series.

If you'd like to pay for the workshop(s) in person, you may bring a check or money order to Norma Pantoja at Neighborhood Housing Services (333 Sherman Avenue, New Haven) before the date of the class.

Backyard Chickens
Learn the basics of raising chickens in your own backyard: breed selection, chick care, feeding, and housing. Classroom lecture will be followed by a walk through our chicken yards to site examples of what we learned in class.
This workshop is $15 per person, RSVP required. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
