Trojan Band Wins Top Awards
The band scored all superior ratings at the Pell City Marching Competition on Saturday. They also won best-in-class awards for Drum Majors, Percussion, and Best in Class Band. Congratulations to our band members!
Hazel Green NJROTC defeats New Bern NJROTC
Shooting their highest score of the season, Hazel Green NJROTC defeated New Bern NJROTC 947 to 926 last week in the National Air Rifle League. Hazel Green NJROTC was led by Jacob Harris who shot a 247. The remaining contributing members were Cameron Hayes, Jagger Thurman, and Colin Kelley. Congratulations to the team!

Yearbook Senior Ad Discount!
Any senior who purchases a yearbook before the end of "National Buy Your Yearbook Day"(October 23rd) will be entered into a drawing for 50% off a senior ad purchase of a half page or bigger. Three senior winners will be chosen!
HGHS Working College & Career Fair
The Hazel Green Working College & Career Fair will be held on November 5th. Last year thirty-two schools and organizations helped students submit 265 college applications during the event. Free transcripts will be provided. This year, thirty-five schools and organizations will be here.
ASVAB--Juniors & Seniors

College Application Fees Waived

Heisman High School Scholarship
This is a $5,000 scholarship for students who have a 3.0 GPA or higher, played a sport in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, and have been a leader and mentor in the school/community.
Reminders for the Week
Monday
Boys' Basketball Tryouts: Boys' basketball tryouts will be Monday, October 21, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for JV and varsity eligible players and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for freshman eligible players. All physicals must be turned in to Coach Barker prior to tryouts on Monday. You cannot try out without a physical.
Tuesday
Area Volleyball Tournament: Your Lady Trojans will host the Class 6A, Area 16 Volleyball Tournament at HGHS on Tuesday, October 22! Let's go, Lady Trojans!! Click here for the bracket.
Wednesday
Yearbooks: Yearbooks are currently on sale at MySchoolFees for $60. The price will increase to $65 after October 23rd.
Prom Committee: Any junior who would like to be on the Prom Committee needs to attend the first meeting on Wednesday, October 23, at 3:40 in Mrs. Dean's classroom (C110).
Thursday
HOSA's Blood Drive: HOSA is hosting a blood drive Thursday, October 24, during the school day. There is a desperate need for blood right now. Also, if we hit our numbers we will be able to award a HOSA student with a scholarship. See Mrs. Thomson or Mrs. Frasier to sign up. Students who are 16 will need their parents to sign a consent form, and students who are 17 can sign up on their own.

HOSA's Pink-Out Shirts: HOSA is selling pink-out shirts for $15. A portion of this money will go to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Beanies are also available for $12 in black and grey.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.
