Notice of Quiz
Teams suitable to compete are invited to apply for entry to the Port Douglas Yacht Club & K-Star Trivia Yachties Quiz Night.
- Rules: The quiz shall be governed by the K-Star Rules of Quizzing and the Special Regulations of PDYC, Category - Fun. The theme shall be Nautical - plus the usual dose of general and specialist knowledge.
- Eligibility and Entry: A maximum of 6 POB per team - 1 skipper and 5 crew, able or otherwise. Each team shall fly the flag for a PDYC boat - mono or multi, masted or mast-less. Entries open NOW - get your entry in early to secure your berth (table and 6 chairs). Skippers: Collect an entry form from the bar, fill it in and pay the fee. Crew: Talk to your skipper, give 'em ten bucks and you're in, or If there's no room on-board find the press gang from a shorthanded crew. Entries close after the 15th team has entered.
- Divisions: All teams are quizzed in Division 1 with a maximum fleet of 15 teams permitted to enter - so get in early.
- Entry Fee: $60 per team - that's just $10 per head for a full crew. Additional late entries accepted at the discretion of the Quiz Committee. Late entries shall be required to bring wet weather gear.
- Schedule of Questions: Start time is 1900 hrs on Friday 13th October 2017.
- Handicap System: Teams will be handicapped by whom they allow to crew (a bit like sailing really).
- Quizzing Instructions: Quizzing Instructions will be issued at the Quiz Briefing prior to the start, around 6:30 perhaps.
- Venue: Quizzing will be conducted under the roof of Port Douglas Yacht Club in the vicinity of the bar and dining area.
- The Course: 2 hours of brain strain to be described in the Quizzing Instructions.
- Penalty System: Teams caught using electronic devices to cheat shall be required to drop anchor and shall not proceed any further in the quiz and shall be stripped of any points accrued. Individuals will walk the plank.
- Scoring: One question is required to be answered to constitute a series. A teams score shall be the total of all her correct answers plus any applicable bonus.
- Prizes: There may be a fathom of fantastic prizes - K-Star Trivia has a huge array of sponsors to support this award winning Port Douglas entertainer. Finger food and nibbles shall be awarded to anyone that is willing to eat throughout the evening - a lot more than $10 worth of awesome provisions from the galley crew at The Yachty! Plus Richie's sensational bar specials.
- Disclaimer of Liability: Quizzing is an activity that has an inherent risk of frustration and anxiety. The Organizing Authority, Port Douglas Yacht Club Inc, K-Star Trivia, sponsors, volunteers, agents, employees and service providers, the Quiz Officer and the Quiz Committee will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury, or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Quiz for both at the table and at the bar activities.
- Assurance: Each team is assured they will have a good time.
- Berthing: To avoid the risk of an adverse effect from inclement weather berthing is limited to however many tables we can cram under the roof. Hence the berthing arrangements are for a table and six chairs per team capped at 15 teams.

Skippers: Get your crew organised, get your entry form at the bar, pay $60, then you're in.
Crew: Talk to your skipper, jump ship or organise a boarding party.
When: Friday 13th October. 6:00pm for a 7:00pm start.
Where: At the Yacht Club.
