A Message From Your Principal - Un mensaje de la Directora Sra. Fine

Dear Glenn Families,

We are off to a GREAT start! Our Astronauts are coming to school excited to learn and our teachers are incorporating engaging hands on activities for our students. Over the next few weeks your children will share the implementation of literacy and math stations that are data driven and specific to student needs. Please be sure to ask your child's teacher about stations during your upcoming Parent / Teacher Conferences.

Thank you for sending your children to school daily and on time! Our attendance efforts are making HUGE difference as well. Mid September we were growing concerned of 12 - 15% daily absentee rates. We have put some practices in place to support our students and families and have decreased that percentage to approximately 7 - 9%. Our goal is still to have 95% of our students at school as we know that when students are in our buildings they are being provided with incredible learning experiences and we are closing learning gaps on a daily basis!

Only students who are Covid-19 Positive or a Close Contact of an individual who tested positive for Covid - 19 are considered "Quarantine" and eligible for NISD Remote Conferencing. This process begins when a parent shares this information with the school via classroom teacher or school nurse. All other students are considered absent and a note is required for return.

We are excited to announce that we will gather as a school community on October 29th for our PTA Meeting and Program which will feature 2nd, 3rd, and Choir at 4:30 pm and our PTA Trunk or Treat will begin immediately after at 5:00 pm. We hope to see you all there as we celebrate and have fun together!

Cafeteria Updates

1. Please encourage your child to eat a cafeteria lunch. Even if you have packed snacks or a lunch they are eligible for a free lunch at school. Each meal comes with a main dish, two sides, and a milk of choice (chocolate, white, soy, lactose free) Federal guidelines require PK students to choose from white, soy, or lactose free.

2. Ice Cream is now being sold in our cafeteria. Students will be allowed to purchase ice cream when they go through the line. We encourage students to eat their lunch first and then eat their dessert. It is recommended that parents / guardians create an account HERE--->My School Bucks to monitor cafeteria accounts and add funds online. We do not recommend that money be sent with younger students unless parents provide it directly to the child's teacher.
