Terence Allen Kolstad - Exciting Technological Developments
Terence Allen Kolstad is a respected IT professional who works as a Solutions Architect and Project Engineer for a consulting firm based in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He is very excited to be a member of the technology industry, as he is on the frontline of many new technological developments that will hit society in the coming years. One technological development that he is especially pleased with is the growing economic efficiency of megascale desalination plants.
The ability to convert seawater into drinkable water is a growing priority in many regions of the world, as many communities are in the midst of historic droughts. Those in favor of desalination efforts received good news recently with the successful operation of a desalination plant in Israel, located 10 miles south of Tel Aviv. It currently provides 20% of the water that Israeli households consume; it is able to do so because of the efficiency achieved by Israel Desalination Enterprises, the company that constructed the plant.
Terence Allen Kolstad, and many other like-minded people, are hopeful that other areas of the world can successfully follow Israel's suit. Currently, there are over 700 million people in the world who do not have sufficient clean water. This lack of clean water is creating devastating realities for people who have to suffer through the horrors of disease and malnutrition. There is reason to be optimistic, as, by 2016, Israel plans to have 50% of its water supply provided by desalination plants. It is through the technological expertise of people like Terence Allen Kolstad that such results will be achieved.

Information Technology - Constantly Changing
Terence Allen Kolstad is an enthusiastic IT professional who consults with various companies to help them move their IT into current and future technologies.
As he knows, technology is constantly changing. It seems like you have barely get a new computer system out of the box before it becomes obsolete. Does it have to be that way? As researcher and former president of the Institute for the Future Roy Amara once said, we tend to overestimate the effect of a technology in the short run, and underestimate the effect in the long run.
Computer technology is different from other technologies. Things like the internal combustion engine, telephones, radio and TV, and jet air travel developed and changed rapidly after they were first invented, but after a while they fell into a fairly steady and manageable rate of change.
But computer technology does not work that way, because it is self-accelerating, which is to say that the very products of Information Technology have processes that enable them to develop faster and faster. New computer chips, for example, are used to develop the next generation of newer and more powerful computer chips. This is an acceleration known in the computer industry as Moore’s Law: that the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles every two years. This same dynamic applies in the IT field, more or less across the board.
Terence Allen Kolstad has worked for the same solutions provider since 2011, where he is a solutions analyst and project engineer. He meets with clients to determine the best solutions for their issues and business problems as they relate to IT.
