This is what we are learning

We started a unit on Winter Holidays in which the class are using the IIM Research Method to learn research skills. Students will use books and internet sources to answer the questions they have posed about their topic.

We will have four groups researching different Winter Holidays. These are the Holidays students will be researching: Chinese New Year, Kwanzaa, Christmas and Las Posadas.

Students will create a product and will present their product as culminating activities for their research throughout the next 3 weeks.

We will continue to learn about fiction and non fiction. We will learn the differences and similarities in the two genres and we will compare them. Students should be able to identify a book or reading passage as fiction or non fiction and justify their reasoning. Also, students should be able to compare and contrast text features in both genres such as table of contents, glossary, index, characters and plot etc.

This week we are working on writing facts while researching our topic and we will work on writing personal letters.

This week we will have our Math CBA on Thursday, December 10th.

We will review in class all that we have learned in math since school has started. Also, I emailed you as a review for home.

We are starting an Energy Unit. We will discuss sources in everyday life of energy such as heat, light and sound. We will also discuss the energy usefulness in everyday life.

This Week we will have LA and Reading in Spanish and Math and Science in English.
