Curriculum Corner
We will continue our WTW and vocabulary routine until the week of March 18. We will not do spelling or vocabulary the week before spring break. When we return from spring break, we will be busy finishing up our Hoosier Exhibition projects and completing NWEA and ILEARN.
Reading:
We will be finishing up our in-class guided mini-research project over Predident's Day this week. Hoosier Exhibition selections were due today and I will be assigning them by Friday.
Science:
This week, we will be studying energy in motion, including potential and kinetic energy and energy transfer during collisions. We will have our final quiz of this unit on Friday covering energy of motion and energy transfer.
Math:
We will be wrapping up Unit 5 in math this week and next week. I passed out study guides last week. They will be due Monday (3/11), with our test Thursday (3/12). Science ran long a couple days last week and we had a convo added to our schedule this week, so I did move those dates back to make sure we had enough time to prepare.
STEPS to SIEW:
This year, students will be participating in a new curriculum called Second Step. At Stonegate, we will be referring to it as "Steps to Strong In Every Way." Every Friday, students will be participating in a lesson focused on social-emotional learning. This week's lesson will be on Taking Responsibility for Your Actions.
Disability Awareness Week
ZWMS Visit, Parent Meeting, and Social
1) 4th grade will be attending a field trip in the morning to listen to the band, choir, and orchestra perform. They will also have the opportunity to go on a tour of the building. Permission slips were passed out on Friday. Please return as soon as you can!
2) There will be a parent information meeting at 7:00 pm in West Hall. Please enter through door 4.
3) There will also be a student social from 6:30-8:00 so students can begin to get to know kids from Eagle and Boone Meadow and meet some staff!
ENROLLMENT GROWTH AND REDISTRICTING MEETING WITH DR. ROBISON
The important topic of redistricting is always part of enrollment growth discussions. Please join us at Stonegate Elementary on March 5 to discuss our facilities needs as a result of continuing enrollment growth. We will meet from 6:30-8:00 PM in the cafeteria.
Please register to attend at:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SGE2019 (Free child care will be provided, but you must register for that, too!). We need parents to be aware of the facilities needs, redistricting implications, and funding information related to our enrollment growth in ZCS.

Substitute Teachers Needed!
Attention all parents/guardians! Have you ever thought about getting paid for the time you spend at our school? Becoming a substitute teacher would do just that for you! Think of it as a paid volunteer position. You still get the opportunity to control your schedule and locations you work but have the added benefit of a little extra pocket money! If you are interested in this opportunity you may apply directly on the ZCS website or simply click here! You may also contact the subcoordinator (subcoordinator@zcs.k12.in.us ) for more information. Thank you!
