Appearance & Classification
Camels are huge animals! The camels are 7-12 ft. long. Camels weigh so much! Their weight is 660-1,600 pounds! That's 5 yards of concrete! OMG! The camel is a cream, tan, brown color. I did not know that. Camels have fur for skin. It is short hair not puffy. The camels can have one or two humps. The one hump camel is more popular. Camels are mammals.
Habitat Information
I would not like to go to a camel's habitat. Camels live in the desert of Africa and the middle east and in central Asia. Some are even in Egypt. The climate is hot and dry.
Predator & Prey
Camels have 3 enemies. Their enemies are humans, leopards and lions. Camels love to eat thorny salty plants. They also eat grass and grain. Camels find their food in the desert. They are herbivores, which means they are plant eater.
Fascinating Facts
I learned a lot about camels. An average camel lives 40-50 years. They can drink 26 gallons of water. Water is not stored in their hump. The hump is just made of fat. A camel is fast! It can run 40 MPH !
