GONZALES BATTLE
Date -October 2, 1835
Military commander in Texas, Domingo de Ugartechea, got word that the American colonists of Gonzales refused to give a small cannon that was given in 1831 to defend against Indians in their settlement.
Battle of San Jacinto
Date -March 13, 1836
This battle is when Santa Anna is defeated. Sam Houston led his troops to San Felipe de Austin to defeat Santa Anna. He discovered that Santa Anna has to cross a bridge over Vince's Bayou so he told his troops to watch for an ambush. Later, the Texans and Mexicans fought for 18 minutes. Santa Anna was dressed as a common soldier hiding in the bushes after he had lost the battle. While Sam Houston sat down ,because he shattered his ankle, and sent out a search party for Santa Anna. At the end, Santa Anna was captured
Battle of Velasco
Date - June 26, 1832
The battle of Velasco after a group of Texan colonists resisted an order issued in July by the commander of the Mexican Army at to surrender their arms. The situation soon escalated into a major battle.
Battle of Nacogdoches
Date - August 2, 1832
The battle of Nacogdoches began because of Mexico building up tension for Texas. Manuel de Mier y TerĂ¡n was sent to Texas to get information about Texas. He noticed that Mexican influence has decreased. The report to Santa Anna caused him to make the law of April 6th, 1830, and many other new rules. The law intended to strengthen Mexican control ,but angered Tejanos and U.S settlers instead. With this going on, it caused the battle of Nacogdoches.
Battle of Agua Dulce Creek
Date -March 2, 1836
This battle was an aftermath of the controversial Matamoros expedition of 1835-36. James Grant and his party of 23 Americans were defeated by the Mexican force.
Battle of the Alamo
Date -February 23, 1836
Texans fought for independence from Mexico but unfortunately lost. David Crocket, James Bowie, and Travis B. William all fought and died during the battle. 257 Texans and some Mexicans fought for independence and about 600 Mexicans fought against the Texans/ Mexicans for Santa Anna.
