Inspiring Passionate Learners
Why is the Attendance Window so Important?
Why is this important?
- Our school board's goal is for all schools to have a minimum of 98% of our students in attendance each day so that mastery of learning occurs and dropout rates decrease.
- We receive $65 per pupil per day they are at school. This is how public education is funded from our salaries to all of our supplies.
What happens if you do your attendance before 9:30 and after 9:45?
- If we are audited on that day, you lose $65 per pupil for that day of funding for our district. For a class of 22, that's $1,430.
Help us reach our goal of 100% of our teachers submitting attendance on time. Kati is running a report each week for the office team to review. All teams who reach 100% will receive early release passes. When our entire school reaches 100%, Thirsty Thursday is on the house.
For teachers who are consistently unable to enter attendance on time, you will confer with Kim or me to co-create a plan of success for you.

Staff Members of the Month
It's time for nominations of our staff member of the month!
We honor a support staff member, paraprofessional, and teacher at Paloma Creek each month. Our staff created criteria for nominating each one of these staff members. Please take time to reflect over the ways you wish to celebrate our awesome staff. When you nominate someone, there's opportunity for you to write a brief comment stating why you're nominating them. All nominations are due by Friday, and we will vote on Monday. This staff member of the month is for Nov/Dec.
Nomination form is below:
A Proactive Approach to Discipline
One thing I've learned over the years is that the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving break and Christmas are challenging for kids and for us. Routines are changing in the home and at school. Kids are excited, apprehensive, and energetic, while we are also excited, exhausted, and in need of more time to prepare for our families at home. I hope this article provides time for you to refuel yourself. You've got this! You are incredibly talented and passionate. We are here for you and will continue to support our students socially and emotionally.
Click on the link below to read the article prior to this Thursday's staff development with one of Denton ISD behavior specialists- Jeff Volding. Every tip and strategy he modeled for Kim and I worked like a charm in our 'Behavior Compliance Training Lab."
Family News
My name is Ms. Kelci Brokaw and I have taken over Mrs. Daniel’s class while she is on maternity leave. A little about me…. I graduated from Angelo State University in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with Secondary Certification and Kinesiology minor. I taught for 2 years at a small 2A high school in Irion County where I taught 7th and 8th grade math, Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1, and art. I also taught Algebra 2 last semester at Billy Ryan High School. In between my teaching positions, I was Assistant Center Director at Mathnasium of Denton where I was head of the STAAR prep program. I also have a 15 month old daughter named Maverick, who keeps me very busy while I’m not teaching . I am VERY excited to start my elementary teaching career here at Paloma Creek and getting to know all of you and your children!

Our new additional counselor, Heather Williams joined us yesterday! Heather and Marshall will be relocating to the AV room once the district warehouse picks up all of the outdated materials currently stored in this location. In the meantime, Heather will be either in Kim's office/ Behavior Compliance Training Room or in Marshall's office. She is on campus Monday and Tuesday morning, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and all day Thursday.
Welcome back Carrie Herman! You were greatly missed, but we are grateful you got to spend so much time with your cute little guy!
Congratulations to Brenda Dulin and her decision to retire on December 21st! Be looking for more information regarding her retirement celebration.
Join me in congratulating Cassie Thomas as she will be stepping into the Math/Reading Interventionist position in January. We are in the process of selecting candidates to interview for her current 5th grade position,
