ABOUT YOUR SCHOOL COUNSELOR
I hope you all had a great summer and are enjoying your first few weeks of high school. Here is a picture of me enjoying my summer break at Yosemite!
HOW I CAN HELP YOU
You may wonder what a school counselor does... well, EVERYTHING! In a nutshell I am here to help you in your transition into adulthood and support you in deciding who you are, what you do well, and what you will do when you graduate. My job is to support you with your academic, career, and personal/social needs.
What do I mean by all that? Some things that I can help you with are:
- Assist in selecting appropriate courses
- Show you how to develop a 4-year plan
- Inform you about high school graduation and college admission requirements
- Provide academic skills support such as organizational, study, and test-taking skills
- Help you with college & career planning
- Assist you in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution, and coping strategies
- Talk to you about problems that may be bothering you with friends/family
- Help you navigate the college application process during senior year
- Someone you can come to when you don’t know who to ask or are just having a bad day
- Be a familiar face
HOW TO ACCESS COUNSELING
There are a lot of resources you can access in the Wolverine Center! The counseling team is here to help support you in high school and beyond! Feel free to stop by my office in the Wolverine Center during lunch, Wolverine Time or after school to say "hi." If you have quick questions about anything you are welcome to email me at ccudmore@powayusd.com.
Please read the newsletters that are sent every month, usually on Fridays - they are full of information. It is important to stay in touch and stay connected to what is going on around campus.
