The Raptor Report September 7, 2020
All Things Rushing!
As we celebrate Labor Day and prepare to recognize Patriot Day, I am struck by how many people choose service as the focus of their lives, how many people only focus on doing, helping, and working for others. What an inspirational notion to start the week with, SERVICE! As most of you know, we had to change our dismissal procedures last Thursday and I cannot tell you how smoothly it all went because of everyone's willingness to serve. Along the same lines, I am continually impressed with our students at Rushing who so much want to serve. From wanting to help other students and teachers to simply being an amazing citizen at school, these kiddos are the most fabulous example of service that I have seen! I am so proud of our students and what they are doing and am humbled by their enthusiasm and energy! Let's start this week with that same enthusiasm and eye toward service!
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns! Thank you for your continued support and, as I have said, with GRACE, GRATITUDE, and KINDNESS, we can resolve any issue and move forward for the success of our students at Rushing Middle School, GO RAPTORS!

Career Day Speakers Needed!
In order to best fit the needs of our current circumstances regarding health and safety, we will be hosting Career Day virtually. We are asking any interested speaker to select one of the following options:
1. Submit a 20-25 minute video which will answer guided questions provided by the RMS counseling department.
2. Commit to appear live virtually through Google Meet from 9am to 10:35am for 3 different student groups (30 minutes each) on November 20th to discuss your career path and answer questions from students.
Our goal for Career Day is to expose our students to as many different career fields and educational backgrounds as possible. If you are interested in being a guest in one of the two formats listed above, please complete this Google Form, and we will be in contact with you.
Please direct any questions to Torrey Eckert (email@example.com). Thank You!
We hope you've had a great start to the new school year! September is here and with it comes new guidance lessons. Guidance lessons for this month will focus on Responsibility, Accountability, Diversity and Inclusiveness.
September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Our Hope Squad members have been busy preparing for National Suicide Prevention Week (September 6-12). During Raptor Roundup on September 9th and 10th, students will receive information about actions we can all take to prevent suicide. The focus will be on suicide prevention, actions that can promote healing, help and give hope.
We hope you have a great 4-day weekend!

Wear Yellow Wednesdays!
"Be Kind" T-Shirts - Order Yours Today
Hope Squad has organized "Be Kind" yellow T-Shirts as a symbol to simply be kind to one another, which is why you often see yellow shirts and apparel throughout our district on every Wednesday of each month. This stems from supporting the cause of suicide awareness and prevention. This year we have two shirt options for you to choose from and purchase through myschoolbucks for $10. Orders will be placed monthly and delivered to your child's campus. The first order will be placed September 1st.
Please log into your "MySchoolBucks" account to order your t-shirt. The shirt will be delivered to your child's campus.
Children's Health Stadium will be lit up yellow every Wednesday evening as a simple reminder for our community to exercise kindness. SO, if you find yourself driving around Prosper any Wednesday evening, run by the stadium to enjoy PISD's symbol for kindness.
