Five EHS seniors make All State Choir
When the most talented high school singers in Colorado converge on the Denver Center for the Performing Arts later this month, five EHS seniors will be among them for the three-day clinic, rehearsals and concert.
The students featured in the video below (from left: Adam Rasmussen, Marco Armijo, Cassie Smyth, Cadence Heffernan and Vinnie Campbell) are believed to be the most All State Choir honorees from EHS in one year. Each of them credits hard work -- singing every day -- and the expert, personalized attention they receive from the EHS performing arts department.
Student Academy provides up-close experience with law enforcement
For 12 weeks late last year, 19 EHS students participated in the Elizabeth Police Department’s annual Student Academy. During four-hour Wednesday night sessions, they learned numerous aspects of law enforcement, medical and fire services, and safety practices while gaining confidence and skills to help keep themselves and their community safe.
At the end of the academy, the students said their favorite sessions included going to the firing range for firearms safety lessons as well as the safe-driving lessons using golf carts at the EHS parking lot.
