Bear Blast

For the Week of Oct 24, 2022

Working together; succeeding together.

Big picture
As treaty people, we acknowledge the privilege and honor of sharing Treaty 6 territory with the traditional inhabitants; the Cree, Dene, Nakota, Sauteaux, Ojibway, and Metis Nation, Eastern Region II. We are thankful that we can use this land and all that it offers for our sustenance and the sustenance of our families.

We acknowledge the harm of colonialism and the residential school system and commit to working together toward reconciliation and forging a better path forward.

New(er) Faces at PPCS

We have a few new(er) faces at PPCS this year. With all of the craziness (awesome craziness) of start up, we have not had time to formally introduce them.

Miss Zenner - Miss Zenner comes to us from Melfort and is in the grade 5 room this year while Mrs. Lechler is on a leave.

Mr. Morin - Mr. Morin comes to us from Hudson Bay via the University of Regina. Mr. Morin is in his 4th year of studies in the faculty of education and is completing his internship at PPCS. He is working with Mr. Bloski.

Mrs. Osecki - We share Mrs. Osecki with Hudson Bay Community School as our outreach worker. In her role, Mrs. Osecki works with students who need someone to talk to, supports families needing a little extra help, and supports our breakfast, snack, and nutrition programs. Mrs. Osecki comes from a teaching background and is a huge asset to our staff and school community. Although she carries a large caseload, Mrs. Osecki always makes time to chat with students who need extra support and works with families to ensure students are well supported at school and at home.

Music Lessons in Porcupine Plain

Parents have inquired every year for many years about the possibility of music instruction at PPCS. Our challenge was finding a teacher. As luck would have it, Mrs. Victoria Riley reached out to me late this summer about offering private lessons at the school. We have agreed to provide Mrs. Riley with a space to teach the lessons at PPCS in exchange for some classroom time for our art classes. To inquire about lessons, please see the contact information below.
