We are still bringing LIVE content-enrichment programs to your students who are learning at home. Registering for a Connect2Texas program is reserving dedicated time from the presenting organization. We realize that during the COVID-19 pandemic, some assignments are optional; however, these programs require attendance on the registered date and time.

Gifts of State (Recording)

This video runs elementary students through our student-centric Gifts of State Premier Program. During his presidency, President George H.W. Bush received many gifts of state on behalf of the American people. We look at some of the gifts he received and where they came from. At the end, students are challenged to design and make their own gift of state for a country of their choice.
Passport for Learning (Recording)

This video overviews our Passport for Learning and provides student-centric activity ideas. The passport is used with all of our Premier Programs. The Passport deepens student understanding of the United States Constitution. It gives a strong example of civic leadership by looking at the life, actions, and legislation of President George H.W. Bush.
Let’s Talk Sharks
Presented by Texas State Aquarium
Grades: 3-5
Cost: $128.50
Students will observe shark bio facts and explore how a shark’s skeleton, jaws, teeth, skin, and camouflage make them top predators. We will look at common shark species in the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean as well as view our resident sharks live from the Texas State Aquarium. Why shark conservation is important will also be discussed, along with what scientists and aquariums are doing to conserve these mysterious animals.

The Museum Guide to the Pacific War
Presented by National Museum of the Pacific War

Dates: May 19, 20, 26 or 27
Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m. CST
This lesson is designed for ALL grades with the objective of providing a detail focus or overview of the major components of the Pacific War. Many schools across Texas and the United States cannot come to the National Museum of the Pacific War, so this lesson provides a interpretive tour of one area of the museum campus of interest: The George Bush Gallery, The Nimitz Gallery, The Pacific Combat Zone, The Japanese Garden of Peace, The Memorial Garden, and The Plaza of the Presidents. Teachers can choose which areas of the museum and what themes they wish to concentrate on during their 45-minute lesson.
NOTE: During the COVID-19 quarantine, live programs from National Museum of the Pacific War will only be available on Tuesdays and Wednesday. End-of-Year Bash! Observe the Sun from Home
Presented by McDonald Observatory

Join McDonald Observatory in a celebration of summer! Take a virtual helicopter tour of McDonald Observatory, make a live telescope observation of the Sun with telescopes equipped with special video cameras and solar filters (weather permitting), complete a Student Sun Drawing Sheet, and learn about the solar features by watching unique science demonstrations.
NOTE: Telescope views will be real-time; in case of inclement weather or equipment problems, recorded views will be provided.

End of Year Bash! Observe Stars and Galaxies

Time: 1:00-1:50 p.m. CST
Join McDonald Observatory in a celebration of summer! Take a virtual tour of the Hobby Eberly Telescope at McDonald Observatory, make a live observation of the Sun using telescopes equipped with special video cameras and solar filters (weather permitting), learn about spiral galaxies, and create a model of our Milky Way galaxy. Students may choose to create their own model or watch while educator Marc Wetzel creates one during the video conference. Required materials are simple and can easily be substituted.
