K-5 Grading Changes...
TAKE NOTE
Kindergarten - 5th Grade CCS Report Cards will look different in 2018-2019!
WHAT?
English-Language Arts (ELA) grade reporting for K-5 students is changing on 2018-19 Progress Reports and Report Cards.
HOW?
All components of the ELA NC Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) will be included in a single ELA grade. For instance, a student’s single ELA grade will reflect his/her performance in reading, spelling, grammar, writing and handwriting. Only the ELA grade will appear on the report card, rather than one grade for each of the components listed above in previous years.
WHEN?
ELA grade reporting changes will begin at the start of the 2018-19 School Year.
WHY?
Report Card changes will better represent the NC Standard Course of Study (NCSCOS) for ELA.
Grade reporting will be simpler and will lead to richer conversations about the components that make up the ELA Standards.
Report Card changes will better align with the school’s master schedule for ELA, as well as providing consistent grade reporting between Elementary, Middle and High Schools.
