Bear Notes-Wk 16 Dec.7th-Dec.11th
Serving kids. Growing scholars.
Note from the principal...
Team,
"Christmastime kindles a spirit of believing. it's a time to renew our hearts and rejoice in the deep meaning of the season. It's a time to celebrate a miracle... and to be open to the little miracles all around. And most of all, it's a time to let our faith shine through the love we show one another." I wish I could take credit for writing that, it is so well put. But, it wasn't me, I it read it on the box of one of my Hallmark Christmas tree ornaments. And as I read it over and over I was inspired to share it with your guys. I love this time of year and hope you are inspired (just as I was) to embrace the spirit of believing and celebrate this time of year.
Below, I included a video that our ED shared with me, and I shared with the team leaders last Friday. The video focuses on gratitude and how we can begin to teach that to our scholars. In this season of giving what could be a better gift than sharing the gift of gratitude. When you get a chance check out the video and let me know what you think.
Well as you all know we have a very busy week! Science Night on Tuesday, the Holiday Performance on Thursday and of course ACP begin on Thursday. Please note no Administrative PLC's this week.

Professional Development
2.1Establishes clear, aligned standards-based lesson objectives(s)
Consistently and effectively establishes clear standards-basedlesson objectives, aligned to district curriculum maps & assessments.
Focuses students at the beginning and throughout the lesson, by clearly stating and explaining to students:
What they are learning
Why it is important
What mastery looks like
How to connect it to prior knowledge and their own lives
Most students can demonstrate through their actions or comments that they understand each of the above.
Take a few seconds and think to yourself do my scholars know what they are learning and why it is important that they learn it? Can my scholars articulate in their own words what they just learned? If someone were to ask them what would be the keys phrases/learnings you would hope they mentioned?
Teacher Self-Evaluation - Domains 1 and 4
Teachers,
Now is a good time to self-evaluate your progress on TEI Domains 1 (Planning) and 4 (Collaboration/Professionalism). As you look over your body of work think of what you have done so far with regards to tracking your scholars, lesson planning, assessment writing, meeting and collaborating with your team, attending PD's (and implementing your learning), and communicating and involving your parents.
We have done considerable work in these areas. Be sure to document your specific actions.
