Driscoll Library Reader
November 2022 Edition
Out of This World October
October was busy in the Driscoll Library. We had many students come in for lessons, book check-out, and library promotions. Check out our stats below.
6th Grade DBQ Launch
Sixth grade students spent three days in the library during their social studies classes. They participated in their first DBQ launch of the year. Students were introduced to the DBQ process and worked with classmates to get background information, analyze primary and secondary sources, and answer the DBQ question while citing sources. The students did an amazing job of thinking historically as they determined the impact the Nile had on Ancient Egypt.
"KNOWvember" Nonfiction Challenge
We are challenging you to read nonfiction in November! Expand your knowledge by checking out a nonfiction book of your choice. Read the book and complete a review sheet. Turn in your completed sheet to Mrs. Reyna for a prize.
Digital Citizenship
Students have been participating in digital citizenship lessons during class library visits. The lessons focus on responsible technology use, digital footprints, digital media and the brain, and more. The goal is to help students use technology responsibly and think critically when navigating the digital world.
Native American Heritage Month
November is Native American Heritage Month. During this month, we recognize the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the United States. Stop by the library to explore our Native American Heritage Month gallery, check out a book that celebrates Native American heritage, or view our slideshow on famous Native Americans that have made an impact on American history.
Veterans Day Resources
Library Services has curated resources to learn about and celebrate Veterans Day. Click on the image below to explore these resources.
Turkey Scavenger Hunt
Come by the library to hunt for some turkeys! There are 12 turkeys hiding in the library. Find all 12 and write their unique names on the scavenger hunt form. Turn in your completed form to Mrs. Reyna for a prize.
New Books!
We have so many new books in the library. Lots of new titles have been added to our collection in the last two months. Swing by the library to check one out!
