January 2015 Update

Still Time to Sign Up for the Technology Integration/Classroom Readiness Event

There is still room available for teachers in Saginaw and Midland who wish to attend the Saginaw Intermediate School District's Technology Integration/Classroom Readiness Professional Development event on Feb. 21.

The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Saginaw ISD's RESC Building, 6235 Gratiot Road.

Featured speakers will be Jay Gross, Sharrie Parke and Eunice Morrelli.

All who attend will also receive a $100 stipend.

Winter 2015 Blended Learning in the Classroom Course

The REMC Association of Michigan's winter 2015 Blended Learning in the Classroom course that was originally set to begin on Jan. 12 has been pushed back. The course will now run from Jan. 22 through May 15.

Participants are required to attend a face-to-face session to receive credit for the course. A face-to-face session will take place at the Saginaw ISD's RESC Building, 6235 Gratiot, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27.

As a reminder, this course is FREE, but a $10 fee is required for those who wish to earn 62 SCECHs upon completion of the course.

Registration is open until Jan. 26.

Are you ready for M-STEP? Michigan’s new Assessment System, the Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress (M-STEP) debuts in April of 2015. Choose a session and gather information and tools to discover what might be needed for spring of 2015.

Saginaw ISD will host the following sessions via video conference at the RESC ITV Room:

8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 2
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 11

TRIG Professional Development Next Generation Assessments Series

These three-week virtual courses will take place Jan. 19 through Feb. 8 and will be offered on three levels: Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced.

Throughout the course, participants will explore and apply aspects of technology integration, blended learning and data collection toward the creation of a classroom-ready assessment that is grade-level and subject area appropriate.

There is no cost to participate, and six SCECHs are available for a $10 fee.
