Congratulations Savannah Palmer! Savannah placed first for third graders in the Southampton Library Book Writing Contest. She wrote and illustrated the book titled, Cookies. Great job Savannah!
NBC 10 Meteorologist, Brittney Shipp visited Tawanka First Grade today. She read the children's book she wrote called, The Meteorologist in Me, showed a behind the scenes video of all the amazing technology and science used in broadcasting the weather, and concluded with a dance rap party that taught safety in storms. The children LOVED the visit and learned so much! Thank you Brittney Shipp and NBC 10!!
Second grade is studying plane and solid shapes.
100 BOOK CHALLENGE
Second grade completed their 100 Book Challenge with a red carpet walk and special recognition medals handed out by Mr. Palmer. Congratulations to all of the Second Grade Super Readers!
This week the third graders presented their Wax Museum projects to the students and teachers of Tawanka and their parents. For the last several weeks, the third graders have been researching, writing, and practicing their speeches to prepare for their big presentation. They all looked fabulous in their costumes and they were a big hit with all audiences. Great job third graders!

TITLE 1 BEACH PARTY
Title 1 beach party. They had a great turnout, and families were able to take home materials, books, and instruction on how to work with their children reading over the summer break.
