The Who, The Dream, and the Design Qualities
Featured Staff of the Week - Jan Ovesen!
Jan Ovesen was born on St. Croix US Virgin Islands. She is the baby girl of 9, the 8th born out of 6 girls and 3 boys. Her actual name is Jandalie but she never uses it. She has always used Jan; only her parents and grandparents call her Jandale. When she was born, her parents weren’t on the same page when they filled out the paperwork. She has one birth certificate with Jandalie and one with Jan! Since we're all family here, are we still going by Jan? :)
Ms. Ovesen has three sons. The oldest attends college at the University of North Texas, the middle one is a senior at Frisco High School, and the baby goes to kindergarten at Caldwell Elementary. In addition to her three boys, she also has three "fur babies": Rocky, Bella, and Choco. If three boys and three dogs didn't keep her busy enough, Jan also breeds pitbulls and is a co-owner of a race horse!
In her "spare" time, Jan likes to keep everything in focus. She used to print model in middle and high school and continues doing random photo shoots. A self-admitted camera fiend, Jan currently has 4233 pictures in her phone, 1310 of which are selfies.
Ms. Ovesen recently completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in Triple Literacy at the University of Texas at Arlington. She also has a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University.
Jan is the member of several professional clubs and organizations, including: Phi Alpha Delta, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Kappa Delta Pi, National Honour Society, Eastern Star, and Golden Key (at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels).
Ms. Ovesen attended Catholic school until the last two years of high school. She was the Class Vice President in both her freshman and sophomore years.
