Lincoln Leopard Weekly Updates
October 19th-October 23rd
Principal's Moment
We are so excited to welcome back our 4th and 5th grade students this week! Our teacher have been waiting for this moment and are pumped!
We appreciate the time you have taken to meet with us during conferences. If you were unable to make a conference, please reach out to the teacher to schedule a time to meet! Your voice is so valuable in regards to us helping your child succeed!
As you know, due to Covid-19, we have had to implement new safety protocols. One of these is the Hug and Go zone on 33rd. Please enter the Hug and Go on Logan and 33rd. Please do not make U-Turns on 33rd to enter the lane. It creates a very unsafe situation for students. After you enter the Hug and Go, go as far as you can toward Douglas. This allows for more students to enter the Hug and Go. Once you are stopped, please promptly help your students out of the car. Lincoln staff will ensure your student gets to his/her classroom. You will exit the Hug and Go lane right before Douglas. We really appreciate your help in keeping the Hug and Go Zone moving.
On a hydration note, please remember to send a water bottle with your student as we cannot use our drinking fountains. We want to make sure that all of our students stay hydrated, especially now that they are wearing masks!
Thank you again for all of your support and understanding duing these new times! Together we will be stronger!
Thanks,
Ms. Stott

It’s October, a new month, another meeting, and a new PTO Blurb!
Return to Learn…students are back in the school! Like me, you have probably received Drop-Off emails and viewed the new map with the “Hug & Go Zone”. Couple of things to clarify for the procedure as you are dropping off:
1. No More Tuck & Roll!
· Gone are the days of stopping in front of the school or T intersection, letting your student(s) jump out to weave through traffic while people text and drive.
2. Drop-Off is to flow by the front of the building like traffic in a fast food drive thru.
· The Hug in “Hug & Go” is not actually an awkward, too long embrace with your student’s teacher for taking the children back. It should be positive affirmations to start your students’ day and slow departure from the building.
· In other words, get out or get in, and get goin’ – keep the line moving people!
3. Safety is the #1 Priority - The last time I hit a pedestrian, I while playing Crazy Taxi (video game) so it really was no big deal…hitting a real human is bad. SAFETY FIRST – please drive slow!!

Pto prez p.s.
This PTO Prez P.S. is for all the parents, remote learning facilitators, and loved ones who might benefit from the same lessons our school presents to our students. In the last week, I was fortunate to overhear a teacher respond to a child (with a voice of an angel – tugging at my heartstrings) in tears expressing frustration with saving, uploading, and attaching a document. One of my favorite parts of Lincoln Elementary is the school’s emphasis on Social Emotional Learning. The teacher’s soothing response:
“Honey, I can hear and see you are in the Dog part of your brain. I want you to take a couple of deep breathes...” – as you go about adulting and managing the daily stresses, anxiety, and challenges …BREATHE.
Oh, and if you’re unsure of what the “Dog” part of your brain means…ask your student, they know!
…that’s the PTO tea for Lincoln Elementary! Later!
