A MESSAGE FROM MRS. MOLITOR
Hello Glendale Students!
It's so great having everyone back in the building this year and seeing your faces every day! We had an awesome first couple weeks of school and we look forward to the fun ahead in October!
The story for this month is: I Promise by LeBron James
NBA champion and cultural icon LeBron James makes his picture book debut with his inspirational and approachable “I Promise” pledge. Beautifully illustrated by Nina Mata, LeBron’s I Promise follows a diverse group of children and encourages them to be resilient, respectful, imaginative and, above all, true to themselves. No matter who you are or where you’re from, kindness and acceptance can lead to excellence.
I hope you enjoy it, and always remember to :

ESTEM DAY IS COMING SOON!
Please be sure you send your child dressed appropriately for the weather that day, as classes will be going outside for their activities.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES
This school year, PLSAS Child Nutrition Services is experiencing critical staffing shortages that are negatively impacting our school meals program. We have gone to unprecedented lengths to try to fill positions, we have streamlined menus and even have district office staff volunteering in our kitchens, but our staffing shortages continue.
We are now at a point where we are asking available parents to be essential volunteers and come to select elementary and middle school kitchens where our staffing needs are greatest, to serve lunch to our students. It's a great opportunity to be in our schools and see students enjoy one of their favorite times of the day!
Dates are flexible to suit your schedule. We will provide you with the training, all the support you need AND a free lunch!
Volunteers can start immediately after completion of a successful background check. Masks are required of all kitchen staff and volunteers. The following is a Sign-Up Genius with available dates and lunch times. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A45ABA72AA7F85-lunch
Thank you for considering this volunteer opportunity!
2021-2022 School Celebrations
Throughout the school year, Glendale along with all PLSAS elementary schools will celebrate student learning, the seasons, ESTEM, and special school events. While we will not hold one hour classroom parties for Halloween, Winter Holiday and Valentine's Day, we will provide a variety of celebrations and special events. In usual times, we have events that may include volunteer opportunities for parents. Once we can do this again, we will let you know!
This past week Sept 27th- Oct 1st we celebrated Homecoming Week and had School Spirit Week with a couple of special dress up opportunities. We will celebrate the seasons with outdoor and ESTEM activities throughout the school year. We plan to have Kindness Week Feb. 14-18th and I Love to Read Month activities throughout February.
Other events and dress up days (such as hat or PJ day) will be communicated by your child's teacher or through the school office. Additionally, teachers will hold special celebrations of learning, depending on the grade level learning outcomes. We will honor and respect family traditions and holidays and invite students to share their traditions during morning meetings, conversations, and share & tell activities. We look forward to a year of learning and a year of celebrating students!

MEALS FOR GLEN
Hello Wonderful Glendale Families!
Glen, a tiger salamander, is one of our pets at Glendale. Glen is an easy pet to care for, however, we will need some help with the donation of crickets (15-24 crickets would be a typical meal to last the week). We are looking for families to donate this meal every Monday or Tuesday if there is no school on a Monday. If you are able to help, please sign up! You can bring your "meal" to the office or to Mrs. Hanstad's classroom 109, and our Junior Naturalists along with your child will feed our school pet! Thank you in advance for all of your support and donations! Please use this link to sign up for crickets!
FUN AROUND GLENDALE
Hello Glendale Elementary Families!
The PTC’s Fall Fundraiser this year is The Glendale Games and will be held on Friday October 15th with each grade level completing 10 different olympic themed events! We would love your help in volunteering to help make this event a success! We have time slots available to: help set up, help run each game/event, take pictures and clean up! Each time slot to help at a game also has the grade level that will be "competing" if you would like to try and help during your child’s assigned time. Thank you ahead of time for volunteering your time! We appreciate it!!
