Girls Volleyball Team Repeat ILSAA Volleyball Champions

This year's girls varsity volleyball team is made up of 7th graders Maddie Simshauser, Leyna Nagel, Lainey Simmons, Jessica Rohrbach and Carley Gerardot. The 8th graders are Claire Bickel, Kate Zellers, Aly Stinson and Ellen Scott.

These awesome girls are not only repeat champions of the state ILSAA Volleyball championship but also the south division and city LSAA tournament as well. They won the championship game against Immanuel Seymour in three sets. Immanuel took the first set and SJE the other two. The third set was posted on Facebook by the ILSAA and shared on the SJE Facebook page. If you get a chance, watch it. That 3rd set was amazing!!! Kate, Aly and Claire also earned All-Tournament Team honors.

The 8th graders girls had not lost a set until last weekend and have gone undefeated for 3 years, a huge accomplishment for them. These girls all have amazing resilience and are a phenomenal team on and off the court.

Congratulations to all the girls as well as coaches Angie Bickel, Jeff Simshauser and Harlee Gardner for a phenomenal season. Ready for a three-peat?

Lost and Found

Any lost and found at either or both buildings will be out to claim starting Monday Oct 15th through Thursday, Oct 18th. After that anything left will go into the church rummage sales.

New Parent-Teacher Conference Sign Up Closes Monday

Parent-Teacher conferences are this Wednesday and Thursday, Oct 17th & 18th. Virtually all parents have registered at this time. Don't delay if you have not. Spots are limited. I will leave the signup open until the 15th in case you need to make a change.

If you have not signed up by Monday, Oct 15th, you'll need to contact your child's teacher.

Middle School HOSA Opportunity

If you have a middle school student at SJE, they have an opportunity to participate in HOSA for middle school. HOSA stands for Health Occupation Students of America. Josh Castleman participated last year. If you are interested, there is an informational meeting at Concordia High School Monday, October 15th at 7pm in the library. You can learn more by going to www.hosa.org or www.indianahosa.org

October Family Matters- It's Starting to Get Real

Volunteering at SJE

Thank you to all who have already earned volunteer hours this school year. I know many more are still working towards them.

Please note that your service hours are now being entered in Renweb and can be found on the Parentsweb page on the right side. Click on your name and then the "service hours" tab and you will see your total hours. Each parent has their own tab to look at.

Also, note that by in large I have only entered those hours that are complete as of the end of the 1st quarter or volunteer positions that run all school year with fixed hours like school board etc. Room parent or anything yet coming up is not in there yet because there are no fixed hours.

As of 10/11, 25 families have completed the appropriate number of hours needed for their family and another 29 have not yet accumulated any volunteer hours. Please note the info in bold below and see where you might be able to help/volunteer.

**Please note that your volunteer hours this year (18-19) will reduce or eliminate up to $400 of the tuition increase/student set for the 19-20 school year.***

The Lutheran SGO for SJE

It's that time again to have a conversation about our SGO. We have many families that have filled out applications requesting funds to assist with their school tuition. This is a great way to help them. It allows the donor to donate funds to the SGO and receive a 50% Indiana state tax credit. If your donation is large enough, you can carry it over up to 8 tax years. Our need this year as of now is $19,500.00, of which we already have $2000.00. Please consider giving. There are so many ways to do so and more are coming in early 2019. Please visit the website for more info.
