Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
I also would like to congratulate our students that received their 1st Holy Communion today. Many are pictured in our cover photo. It was a wonderful mass and all our students looked amazing! Thank you to Mrs. Gaherty and Mrs. Schoeppe for doing such an wonderful job preparing the students!
We have a lot happening at SFCS this week. Zoara the Comfort Dog is returning! She will be in school tomorrow to spend some time with the students! Mrs. Sweeney and the 5th Grade will be performing their musical this week. The performance will be outside and we are looking forward to a great show!!! Don't forget to check out the FSA section below. The baskets are ready and look great! Thank you to everyone who donated and put them together. A special thank you to Mrs. Drescher and Mrs. Pavlick for coordinating this activity and the Salty Dog cruise! Prekindergarten
Kindergarten
Kindergarten, with the help of Mrs. Sweeney, was busy last week working on special surprises for Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our special SFCS Kindergarten Mothers! You are all the best!
Kindergarten let nature lead their learning last week as they studied the Eastern Box Turtle, habitat and nest right outside of their classroom door! They harvested and tasted their carrots, with an awesome lesson from Mr. Gavin and planted more seeds in their garden.
4th Grade
Students were given 1 foot of yarn, 1 foot of masking tape, 5 pieces of spaghetti, and a marshmallow. The task was to build the highest structure possible and balance the marshmallow on top. There were some creative solutions!!
5th Grade
8th Grade - Physical Science
Eighth grade science is wrapping up our study of electricity, magnetism, and electromagnetism. Our project for this unit included building working electrical circuits, learning the energy transformations that occur in the circuit, and accurately drawing the circuits using standard symbols used in electrical circuitry. Students constructed many devices including simple lights and switches, motors, fans, space war sounds controlled by light, a water detector that produced an alert sound when water was present, doorbells, circuits that play Happy Birthday, and working FM radios with volume control and the ability to change channels!
