A message from Mr. Finkle!
The school is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming Super Bowl. Eagle green is seen throughout and the talk of a world championship is abuzz. I too am looking forward to the much anticipated match-up next Sunday!
The District adopted a school calendar for the 2017-2018 school year that utilized President’s Day and Spring Recess as make up days in the event of school closure. Due to the school closings in early January, the District will be open for classes on both February 19th and April 6th.
And now, on to scheduling 2018-19! Tomorrow is the last day for students to choose their elective courses. Please reference the Program of Studies for all course offerings, prerequisites, and explanations. Recommendations for academic have been entered into the portal as well. Should you child wish to change a recommended course, they will do this with their counselor at their individual meeting. Each student will meet with his/her counselor beginning with the Class of 2019, 2020, and then 2021. All students should be seen by mid-March. Students will bring a form home for final review and parent signature after the meeting. Should you have any questions, please speak with your child's counselor.
As in years past, a waiver form must be submitted if you and your child would like to move to a higher level than the one recommended. Waivers should be submitted to guidance ASAP (even if student has not yet met with counselor). Waivers will not be accepted after March 15th.
Option II paperwork must be completed for any course taken outside of the four walls of DHS. This would be used for credit recovery and accelerating in a course of study. We also use Option II paperwork for Independent Study courses. Please remember to read the paperwork thoroughly and have it approved before any monetary fees have been paid.
The scheduling assembly powerpoint can be found HERE for grades 9-11 and HERE for grade 8.
Thank you and enjoy the Super Bowl!

PUBLIC HEALTH MESSAGE from Mrs. Mignogna:
Due to the rapid and wide-spread nature of the flu and stomach viruses, and this year’s overwhelming number of sick students and staff members, we are reminding everyone of our important medical policies. Please follow our “24 hour policy” which pertains to fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Do NOT send your child to school with a fever of over 100 degrees, if your child has vomited, or if your child has had more than two bouts of diarrhea. Your child must be free from all of the above ailments for “at least” 24 hours, without the help of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) before coming back to school. If we ALL adhere to these easy-to-follow policies, we can together stop the spread of these germs and illnesses. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
Athletic News
There is one month left in the winter season and state playoffs are around the corner for Bowling, Swimming and Wrestling. Next week Delran will find out if these teams have qualified for the NJSIAA tournament. Please come out and support our students as they make their final push for playoff positioning.
Attention to students who want to play a Spring sport! A new form will be added to the ATS requirements. The NJ Department of Education has created an Opioid Fact Sheet that must be reviewed and signed off by all athletes and parents before participation can occur on March 2nd. The ATS portal will be open from January 15th to February 12th. If you have already filled out all documents from a Fall or Winter sport, you must reenter ATS, review the Opioid Fact Sheet and complete the electronic signatures required. Once electronic signatures are complete, the Opioid Fact Sheet with signatures must be printed out and placed in the box on the front counter of the main office. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Guidotti or Mr. Caplin.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: if your student wants to participate in a sport during the school year, the student must have a valid physical. Once a new physical is complete, do not hold onto it. Turn the physical into Mr. Guidotti or Ms. Jordan so that it can be forwarded to the school physician for approval. Make sure that all information on the physical and health history form are filled out completely and accurately. In addition, a student may not participate in a sport unless the ATS portal has been completed. Directions on how to complete ATS can be found on Mr. Caplin’s teacher page.
Not able to make the home winter sporting events? Log into www.nfhsnetwork.com and subscribe to the Delran home page. You can watch basketball and wrestling matches live from the comfort of your home on your computer or smart tv for a low price. $9.99 per month, $40 per season. In addition, if you miss the live event, games are stored on the page for future viewing. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mr. Guidotti.

Alumni Walk
Alumni Walk Update- We are paving the way to celebrate Bear Pride! The Advisors from the Class of 2017 are working on their inlay design. We are very hopeful this year’s Senior Class will buy a brick and cast their permanent legacy on DHS. It looks like we have established a new tradition of not only allowing a platform for individuals, but also each graduating class as a whole, to leave their mark. Please consider purchasing a brick in order to pave the entire walkway. The link for purchasing a brick is below. We would also like to acknowledge the work of Best Cut Lawn-care and Landscaping for installing our bricks. They have donated their time and talents to DHS and provided their work free of charge. Thanks you Phil Velo and Best Cut.
