tech talk

Farmington Middle School is 1:1 with Chromebooks. These devices are an extension of the classroom. As teachers are trained to use these devices to increase student engagement and students achievement, it is important that students bring their Chromebooks to school each day and that they are fully charged. Please develop a plan with your student each night to power down and charge their device so they are prepared and do not miss out on any educational opportunities at school.

Digital Literacy and Responsibility are key components that each child should understand. Here is a resource that teaches digital citizenship, your child's digital footprint and other important features of being safe on-line. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/

As always do not be afraid to monitor and check your students on-line presence and activity.

edcite

Our students and teachers are using a website called EDCITE. This site allow our teacher to Build, Send and Create assignments easily, that engage your students with interactive digital practice.

google classroom

Remember to check with your student in their Google Classroom to see assignments that need to be completed, assignments that have been submitted and to stay current on how you can best support your student.

icu

You will receive text and e-mail alerts notifying you if your student has a missing assignment. Please feel free to contact the school and teachers to help us help our students complete all their assignments to reach their full academic success.

Character Council - pursuing the pillars of integrity

Before Christmas break, students worked through a service project to raise money for a family in need in the Farmington R-7 School District. As part of a project at the middle school called Worth While Wednesday's students raised over $1,900 to support one of our families. We are proud of our students efforts, empathy and compassion they demonstrated.

The Farmington Middle School Character Council provides students with leadership opportunities within the school setting. Character Council is comprised of student representatives who apply for the position and are FMS role models endorsed by staff members and succeed in a selection process. The FMS Character Council leads school wide character education efforts. They model the Eight Pillars of Integrity, lead service learning opportunities, and plan school spirit activities and events. Character Council meets before school daily and plans for and coordinates service projects, character education activities, and other service learning opportunities. Applications for new members are available each spring of the school year for consideration for membership the next school year
