LHISD Updates

Community Edition

Time to Choose again: in-person or remote

Parents - Sept. 14 through Sept. 21 is the window for you to make your child's selection for their learning platform for the 2nd six weeks. You only need to log in if you plan to change their learning platform (Remote Learning or In-person) for the coming reporting period. The window closes ten days (Sept. 21) before the start of the coming six weeks. This allows for any schedule adjustments and allows teachers time to review "new" student information.

Please log in to Skyward Family access and make any desired changes.

Strategic Planning Final Event

The Board of Trustees and LHISD started a productive eleven-month-long process that began in November 2019 to develop a strategic plan to guide the District for the next three to five years.

Over a hundred educators, parents, students, and community members shared their input and helped develop strategies, objectives, and action plans to define and shape the District’s work into the future. Last Thursday, the Action Team leaders presented their final action plans to the Strategic Planning Committee, with the unanimous agreement on the passing of all the plans from the committee. These plans will be presented to the Board of Trustees at the September 28th School Board Meeting for review.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all the staff, community, and business members who have given their time and expertise with the strategic planning that will take LHISD into the fast-growing future of our Panther Family. Your dedication is why Liberty Hill is the best place to be now and for years to come! #buildingchampions

Community Engagement

Superintendent Snell and Director of Communications & Community Relations Mrs. Kercheville met with the Presidents of the PTO/PPO, Education Foundation, and campus principals to thank them for their partnerships. We received feedback and insight on the guidelines of their organizations, which gave everyone a better understanding of how all of the organizations can assist each other and work toward the betterment of the staff, students, and community. We will continue to meet with this group throughout the year to keep the two-way communication and engagement flowing between the groups.

The LHISD social media sites and websites are a few of the channels parents and community members receive the latest district /campus information and news. To help enhance our LHISD brand, the Communications & Community Relations Department had their first meeting with the campus social media managers and webmasters to review the social media guidelines for employees. In addition, they shared information to help market and grow their campus online presence of informed stakeholders. It was an engaging meeting with a lot of valuable feedback that will benefit the department as we strive to put processes and resources in place to support this group of dedicated staff.

Student Support Services

18+ Program

Did you know that LHISD has an 18+ Program? If you didn't, we want to take the time to tell you a bit about this program. The 18+ Program is available to students ages 18-22 that have completed all credit/curriculum/state assessment requirements, that also require additional transition services in order to meet graduation requirements.

Think of it as a bridge that leads students to the jobs, connections, and the supports they'll need for adulthood.

There are remarkable students and remarkable staff (Marcy Brooks, teacher; Stacy Cox and Mary Farooq, paraprofessionals) in this 18+ Program. We are so proud of our 18+ Panthers!

REMIND- District Communication Platform for COVID-19 Notifications

Beginning on September 21st, the Health Services department will be sending COVID-19 notifications to parents using Remind versus Skyward; the Health Service team will also follow up with a phone call. Remind is one of the channels teachers and staff currently use for classroom or extra-curricular communication. The district is moving to this platform as it’s functionality will provide a faster and easier notification process for our Health Service team and parents during this challenging time. All campuses will be participating in this initiative. Parents will not need to enroll or activate an account as it is synced with Skyward and will automatically send you the messages.

Tennis Program

LHHS Varsity Tennis kicked off their season with a big win against 6A Copperas Cove week- 13-3. They continued their success with a 15-4 win over Taylor Tuesday. Great job students and coaches-keep it up Panthers!

Football Scrimmage

Let's get ready to rumble!! The Varsity Football Scrimmage Friday night will be streamed on Victory Radio Network for all of Panther Nation to tune in and support our boys as they play Canyon. Good Luck!!

JV/Freshman Info: We will not be charging an entry fee for the scrimmage on Friday, September 18th. If we meet maximum capacity during the JV/Freshman scrimmage, we may have to make an announcement for families and fans to exit the stadium and meet your student-athlete in the parking lot. This will allow seating room for the varsity families. Thank you very much, in advance, for your cooperation and understanding.

NEW COVID-19 LIVE DASHBOARD AND AFTER HOURS COVID REPORTING RESOURCES

LHISD has launched two new resources on the Return to Learn website to help staff, families, and the community stay informed of the COVID presumptive or positive cases in our district. An after-hours process for our parents has also been implemented to notify the Health Services Department of presumptive or positive COVID cases after hours. These resources are located on the district Return to Learn webpage at this link.
