December/January Parent Update

Together, we are The 1104

This is such a busy time of the year! We have several events in December at The 1104 we hope you can all attend. The month kicks off with our last home soccer game on December 1st @ Danzey Field. Kick off is at 4:00 p.m. The next week, we will have the Scholastic Book Fair on campus (Dec. 5-9). Our Parent Involvement Team (P.I.T.) is hosting a Family Movie Night on December 8th from 5 pm -7 pm - the movie showing will be The Polar Express. December 21st is the last day before the holiday break. This is an early dismissal day - all students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. There will no LEAP on the 21st. Please be sure to check the "Important Dates" section below for more information.

P.I.T. (PARENT INVOLVEMENT TEAM)

Parent Involvement Team (PIT) PIT is a vital link between the school community and the parents it serves. Thus, parents are urged to join and take an active part in PIT. This organization raises money to provide Palm Bay Schools with cultural programs, assemblies and other specific needs as they occur. The group also runs book fairs and supports student activities on a regular basis. All parents are invited to all meetings and are encouraged to contact heather.clark@palmbayschools.org for more information or to get answers to questions regarding PIT.

Elementary

FAST Testing PM2 is coming soon!


Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) is the statewide assessment for reading and math for grades 3-5. The STAR assessment is the statewide assessment for K-2 covering reading and math.

These assessments will be given the weeks of the 5th -15th of December based on an assessment calendar for each grade level.

These scores in the winter will provide mid-year scores to compare to the baseline score from the Fall assessment.

High School: End of Semester EXAMS

All high school students will have end of semester cumulative exams December 15th and 16th, 2022. Teachers will make sure that review happens in the days leading up to semester exams. Parents, you can help by making sure your child(ren) set time aside to study and prepare for these important tests.

Palm Bay Esports Team NEWS

The Palm Bay Esports team has been competing against other high school teams across the state of Florida this season! Currently, the team competitively plays "League of Legends" and will be adding "Smash Brothers", "NBA 2K" and "Rocket League" in the spring. The team will also be featured in the upcoming Bay County Chamber of Commerce quarterly publication!


Did you know that many colleges are offering scholarships to students that excel in video gaming? The Panther team members were able to meet with and discuss college opportunities with an Esports player from Huntingdon College recently. It has been an exciting start for the Esports adventure at Palm Bay!
