Color Run Follow Up
We want to send a huge thank you out to the staff and administration that helped put this on. There is no way we would have been able to do this without an administration willing to give us the time for the event and to help us organize. Jill Mullen, Staci Lester, and Robin Lewis have been the driving forces behind the run and I am not exaggerating when I say they have put enormous amounts of time and effort into it to make it such a success. Please thank them for their efforts if you see them!
Also, a huge thanks goes out to a group of parents who don't mind answering my emails, texts, and any other manner of communication to get this event off on the right foot! If your name includes Coonfare, Hoffman, Selina Garcia, Harris, Roark, Reames, Morehead or Hidayat your help and feedback is valued more than you know. This PTSA could not do it without you!
We also have the best families at South Valley. We had over 50 parent and family volunteers who helped cheer, organize, and generally keep our Eagles on track during and after the run. We absolutely could not have had such a successful event without you. Thanks for supporting the Eagles and for sticking in there with us to make sure this was the best run, ever.
We also need to thank the three food trucks that came out to feed our Eagles. Snowie KC (@ Snowie KC on fb) and Cowtown Mini Donuts (@cowtondonutskc on fb) have helped us out for the last couple of years and they were amazing again this year. We also had a new ice cream truck that agreed to sell their ice cream choices. Frosty Treats was amazing as well. No way could we have had enough concessions for over 700 people without them!
Thanks again to all that were involved. It was an absolute blast!
Also, photo cred for this amazing pic goes out to Carrie Padden. Her mad filtering skills never let us down!
Spirt wear is in your future!
Thank you for your patience in this spirit wear order. With over 800 students the order is huge and we are trying to make sure we have all the orders correct before we pass them out.
If you are not certain whether you ordered spirit wear from us or not you can search your email for an Order confirmation from SVMS PTSA. It should be a transaction from square up.com
Please email svmsptsaeagles@gmail.com for any questions.
A huge thanks goes out to Kate Roark who agreed to take on the PTSA side of spirit wear this year. She did a phenomenal job!
Culver's NIght on October 8th from 5-8. Flavor of the day is Caramel Turtle!
Eat at Culver's and earn money for SVMS from 5:00-8:00 this Tuesday.
The flavor of the day is Caramel Turtle.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale come straight back to SVMS. Tell your friends, family and neighbors.
See you there!
A great big thank you goes out to Jennifer Resse for coordinating our restaurant nights this year!
Your Advisory is Looking for Fall Decorations. Send in during the week of October 14th to 18th.
Student Council is inviting all advisory classes to compete in a Fall themed door decorating contest.
If you are willing to donate supplies that are fall or Halloween themed to your student's advisory class or to the school in general please send them in with your student. We were thinking anything fall/Halloween that they could use to hang on the door. Streamers (orange and black), banners, cardboard cutouts, and table covers might work as backgrounds on the doors. Please send in supplies that can be utilized in the school and discarded. We will not be able to send decorations back.
On Tuesday, October 28th office staff will go around and pick a winner from each of the grades. The winners will get a donut party sponsored by stuco.
They would also really appreciate some candy donations. Student Council will be putting on a community event that will include trick or treaters and they will need candy to give out. If you would like to help them out send a bag of candy in with your student with Tara Holden's name on it.
May the best advisory win!
P.S. This is not a plug for Dollar Tree, just the best pic I could find. But I might start there if I were going to help out my Eagle's advisory!

Fall Box Tops Turn in Due October 25th. Top five Eagles to get a prize.
Box Tops is moving to a new format in this coming year and I am excited about it. No more clipping. No more sending Box Tops to school. All you need is your phone. Download the all new Box Tops app, shop as you normally would, then simply scan your store receipts to find participating products. The app will automatically credit your school's Box Tops earning online. Easy peasy!
Find the app on the Apple app store or Google play.
Thanks go out to Cynthia Hiyadat who has been our Box Tops guru for many years!
The next PTSA meeting is October 28th at 6:30
See you there!
