James Madison, Jr. was an American statesman, political theorist and the fourth President of the United States. Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States. He was born into a recently immigrated Scots-Irish farming family of relatively modest means, near the end of the colonial era. Dolley Madison ran into the burning white house to save a portrait of George Washington.
